Terrible Venue.
This place is awful. It is very run down and dirty. The sound system sucks!!! For the price they charge for tickets they could replace the sound system. They have young kids doing sound, I don't think it's professional sound. They treat the local bands like crap! It's basically pay to play. They make the local bands sell tickets. That's the only way they can sell tickets. The local bands get a dollar per ticket if their lucky and Peabody's pays them what their suppose to. I've seen a lot of crap happen here. Just to name a few. I've seen people be kick out for no reason at all, with no refund. After they payed $20 to get in. I guess they just didn't like them. I've been over charged by the door guy, when I new what the DOS price was. I saw the poster. I guess he pocketed the extra. I've been charge a dollar for water. Of course I didn't buy it. The bartenders are rude! My friend ordered a drink and the bartender said " what no tip!". I was shocked! I would never nor have I ever seen this happen anywhere before. Drinks are overpriced. Rude staff! Peabody's has definitely contributed to the downfall of the Cleveland Metal Scene!
The National acts don't understand how bad they sound there or they would play elsewhere! Peabody's is not the only place to play in Cleveland! There are better places to play in Cleveland! There's the Grog Shop! The Agora! The World Famous Cleveland Agora! They have a Beautiful Theater. I saw Dimmu Borgir play there in 2007 and it was AWESOME!!! I would love to see the Agora make a complete comeback! They could definitely put Peabody's out of business! Also the old Jigsaw in Parma will be opening any day under a new owner and new name "The Hive". I would recommend any place over Peabody's!!! In the end It's the sound system that will do Peabody's in!
A Cleveland institution, this music venue hosts local and national acts and houses three bars and stages under one roof.
In Short
The main room is the largest and features a four-sided bar with good sightlines to a stage that hosts national and better-drawing local acts, while Pirates Cove offers a smaller stage in a cave-like room with an adjoining outdoor patio. The upstairs Rockstar bar has the most personality, including the smallest of the three stages and "The Makeout Room," replete with leather couches.
Never again. Went to see David Allan Coe 10/1/05. Supposed to be 7 o'clock show. Waited in line - doors not open 'til 7. Crappy opening band eventually came out; DAC finally came out about 9:30. By then crowd was as impatient as drunk. Bought tickets through Ticket Master, drove 3 1/2 hours to get there!. I realize they want to make money but If I wanted to party there before it should have been my choice. Many of us drove a long way to get there and it sucked to be kept waiting - standing outside, standing inside. Also, speaker system was too much for the place- way too loud- it didn't help to get beer spilled on my head by drunk girl or miss the end of the concert because the bouncers pushed us out of the way to break up a fight. DAC - yes! Peabody's - never again!
