Editorial Review for Edgewater Park – by Charles Cassady Jr.
The Scene
Near the western border of Cleveland, this peripatetic piece of Great Lakes shoreline offers a view of town that's reminiscent of a Mediterranean scene. The downtown area curves across an expanse of water that in clear, warm weather may be filled with yachts, sailboats and jet skis. Edgewater Beach is a hub of activity. Aside from the usual fishing, boating and swimming, there are organized fitness workouts, festivals (the Native American Pow-Wow is a popular biannual event) and decorative-kite flying that goes on almost year-round. The upper part of the park is a grassy picnic area with trails, large sports fields, outdoor sculptures and lots of spots to hang out.
The Crowd
The overlook (a dazzler at night) is especially popular with photographers and wedding parties, as well as amorous couples, young and old, of all persuasions.
