Editorial Review for Timberfire – by
The Scene
In a recently constructed hunting lodge, Timberfire brings great casual food to the leafy village of Chagrin Falls. The good times here roll and stack: the log house construction features a kayak on the ceiling, murals of buckskin-clad explorers charting their next course, and enough fieldstone fireplaces to provoke a case of cabin fever.
The Substance
The fun isn't limited to that Northwest Passage decor. The menu trail mixes a full complement of simply prepared steaks, chops and grilled poultry entrees with a chain of sandwich islands. The bison quesadilla sets a gamey tone, and you'd be wise not to pass on a hearth-hot gourmet pizza, especially the cheese-laden Yellowstone. (Yogi Bear would be jealous.)
A full bar and excellent wine cellar provides proper refreshment after a ramble through the New England-style village of Chagrin, past the picturesque downtown falls. Afterwards, log onto the outdoor patio even if you think it's too chilly. Those who require a sports connection please note: The restaurant's architect is former Browns' quarterback Brian Sipe (you remember the Kardiac Kids, don't you?), and the owners are the Tribe-affiliated Dolans. All this should get your National Geographic juices flowing, even if your idea of roughing it is a jaunt in the Ford Explorer.
