Best Sushi in Cleveland. I have dined here many times. The restaurant is owned by a couple who pay a lot of attention to the fish quality and the overall running of the restaurant-and it shows. The rolls are a mix of new and traditional. The quality of fish is the best in cleveland. Ask for roll recommendations from the waitstaff-in particular what fish was flown in today. The prices are fair for the quality but tend to be on the expensive side.

superb restaurant!!. My friend introduced me to this lovely and ambient restaurant last week. I am so glad that she did, because everything about this place is just so charming! Sushi was super fresh and presented beautifully; fish cuts are very generous; Salmon Nanbanyaki was perfect with japanese fried rice; the owners are very nice people; servers were very attentive but not chatty; she suggested a delicious desert-cheese steemed cake with strawberries and whipped cream- it was the perfect ending to a great meal. I just can not say enough about this place, you have to try it for youself. You will not regret it!

jjo. Excellent Service!! Excellent Food!! The sushi was the freshest I have ever had! (The portions were so generous). Friends (who don't eat much sushi) had steak and one had a featured special and loved everything. Even the vegetables were cooked to perfection! The dining room is open and airy. Very classy yet welcoming. Perfect dinner!

The food is beautiful, and really, that is the attraction.. The Scene
Still a secret in the Cleveland dining scene, this place is fresh in every way. The decor and ambience are unpretentious and low-key, with hardwood floors, trendy minimalist chairs and modern tube-track lighting. Although the restaurant is small, tables are arranged so that private conversation is no problem.

The Menu
If you like sushi and sashimi (and even if you don't yet), you'll be pleased with both the appetizers and full meals. For starters, the soft-shell crab, cucumber and crab roe spider roll is delectable. Sushi is served at tables or at the tiny yet elegant and comfortable bar. Entrees come with miso soup and an excellent house salad, as well as the usual steamed or fried rice. Dessert offerings include devil's food cake or pastel-colored Japanese ice creams in three flavors: a wonderful green tea, a delicious red bean and a passable mango.

Your Servers
The staff members are friendly but not chatty; they quietly anticipate your soda refills, whisking away empty glasses and returning them full without a word.

Awesome, much better than Sushi Rock. I've been to Sushi Rock a few times and have enjoyed it, but my experience last night at Matsu far surpassed anything at SR. The food was both fresh and beautiful, and the atmosphere was much more conducive to talking and enjoying your dining companion's company than at SR, where people tend to be snooty and attitude-prone. Our waitress was extremely gracious, and the entire experience made me glad to wander out of my normal dining options. Definitely a place I'd go back to.
