Great food!!!. This is one of Cleveland's best kept secrets. Great food, especially the nightly specials. Nice wine list. I would rank the food right up there with some of our best restaurants.
Cozy, great salads, excellent service, dark and a little slow to serve, not particularly suited for kids.
This is a welcome new addition to the ever growing number of fine restaurants on this stretch of Lee Road in Cleveland Heights. There's a nice little outdoor patio we would have sat in instead of eating inside on a nice summer Saturday night, but there was a wait for those tables. They don't take reservations, so prepare to wait on busy nights. Their salads are very good, especially the one with the tastiest fresh mozzarella I've ever had. The gnocci with tomato cream sauce and sausage bits was a little rich for us after we had filled up on salad and appetizers, but was great as leftovers heated up the next day. I had the fresh spaghetti with truffles and cheese special. Although tasty, the pasta had a slightly dry, gummy texture, and there were not many pieces of the small, paper-thin slices of truffles. I think if the pasta was moistened with more oil, that would have helped. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert, so no reviews for them here. It was too dark inside, which may be OK in a bar, but not in a nice restaurant where you want to see what you're ordering and eating, and when you want to see your dining companions. The place was full, but we still thought the food was too slow to come to our table. They should put more bread on the table (there wasn't much until we asked for more), so we wouldn't notice the wait so much. We will certainly return again to try more of the menu.
Update 2010: This restaurant has just about the best pizza we've ever had. It's mostly due to the delicious crust. Pizzas are huge, though thin crusted. I forgot to mention that there are very few tables inside this narrow dining room, which limits diners even more so in the cold months when the patio is closed. I still wish they'd turn up the lights.

Marotta's. If this place was bigger, I would invite more friends. I have eaten in some of the most well renowned venues this fine country has to offer. I would walk past some of the finest to eat here again! You can taste the quality in every bite. My server, Chris, was well advised to share the fact that the owner / chef, Brian Linihan, hand selects all of the restaurant's vegetables daily at local markets. The wine list offers every compliment needed for truly unbelievable, authentic Italian dining at its BEST!
