Duck quesadillas and Mexican lasagnas are favorites at the Tex-Mex restaurant that offers margaritas and free chips and salsa.

I would have loved to have dined at Lopez recently on a Thursday night. My friend and I wanted to partake in their 1/2 price margaritas on Thursdays and each order an appetizer. When we entered, it was busy, but there were plenty of open tables. We went to search for a seat at the bar, which was crowded. When we were halfway seated at a table in the bar area, a server was extremely rude and told us we could not sit there unless we belonged to a certain party, who apparently reserved the entire bar area. When we then asked if we could have 1/2 price margaritas in the dining room, the hostess told us we could. Then she said that they were only seating guests who were each ordering an entree. This is extremely POOR practice, especially in the restaurant business where there is always somewhere else down the road to go. The customer is always right, but not at Lopez. When we asked if we could dine in the establishment if we were each ordering an appetizer and drink and were still denied. I was unaware that restaurants could descriminate based on how much food you were going to order. Needless to say, we left that night and will never go back. If you want to be treated like second-class citizens, go to Lopez- otherwise, try some of the other wonder places on the same street.

I had the misfortune to dine at Lopez with my two sisters for the first and last time. We decided to each order 2 appetizers (6 total) and share for a broader tasting experience. I ordered a selection that, when it was brought out, was not as it appeared on the menu. Although the menu said "empanadas", I was served a very small "single" empanada which could not be shared. I politely informed my waitress that a "single" empanada was not what appeared on the menu and therefore was not what I wanted. I requested to order an alternative. She rudely informed me that I ordered it and couldn't just decline to take it and she'd get the manager. The manager apologized and told me that there was a misprint in the menu. He said that our waitress would return after she calmed down (she was too distraught to continue providing service because she was politely told that I didn't want an order that was not as it appeared on the menu?) He agreed to take the item off my bill. I ordered a substitution, we dined and requested a bill. The item I declined was on my bill discounted 50% despite the fact that I said I didn't want it, sent it back to the kitchen and reordered a different selection which was also on my bill.

I had the misfortune to pay my first and last visit to this restaurant yesterday with my two sisters. We decided to order 2 appetizers each and share so that we could taste a wider selection from the menu. There was a printing mistake on the menu that caused me to order an appetizer I would not otherwise have requested. The menu showed the item to be empanadas, when it fact it was a single very small empanada that I couldn't share. When it was brought to my table I politely told the server that it wasn't what I ordered and I wanted to reorder an alternative. She indignantly informed me that I couldn't change my mind after ordering (ignoring my observation that it wasn't presented accurately on the menu) and literally flounced away with the parting shot that she was going to ge the manager. After waiting unduly long for the manager's appearance, I requested a passing server to let him/her know that my patience was waining. The manager came out and apologized for the situation, explaining that the item I ordered was misleading because of a printing error in the menu. He agreed to take the order back and accept my alternative menu item order. I was okay with the apology until the manager informed me that my waitress would return after she calmed down. Now excuse me for thinking that I should have been the one needing to be calmed. However, I informed the manager that I would actually prefer a different server. The new server delivered my returned menu selection packaged to go and offered it as a gift from the manager. Though I had no inclination to take lobster empanadas home and reheat them in a microwave, I considered the gesture to be kind and thanked her accordingly. We completed our order, dined, and requested our check. Much to my horrified dismay, the manager had included the returned order on my check at a 50% discounted charge.
