Best Japanese Food!!! (avoid busy hours though). At first I was a bit skeptical to go to Daishin because I had a bad experience a couple years back, but then I heard it was under new management so I decided to give it another try. Good move! As soon as we walked in through the door we were greeted warmly by the staff. We opted for hibachi but got sushi appetizers as well. The sushi was really fresh and it reminded me of when I had good sushi in California. For hibachi I ordered the New York strip steak and my wife had the fillet mignon. Our two kids had the kid's shrimp meals. Anthony was our chef and he was very entertaining. Everything was seasoned just right. When I challenged him to cook my steak black and blue, he knew exactly what to do. It was the best steak I had in so long. I could never find a restaurant that could cook it the way I liked it. The fillet was phenomenal and the kid's meals were generously portioned. I was so happy that they had that old samurai shrimp sauce (it brought back memories). I guess the only drawback was that we went during the busy hours and service was a little behind (waited almost 30mins for our chef to arrive). It was understandable though. Busy restaurant = good food turnover. Well worth the wait! We're definitely going back. Next time we bring the kids however, we'll probably try to go a little earlier.
Don't go there just right after it open. We went there for lunch on Sunday right after it opened for business. The moment we stepped inside, the whole restaurant had a musky smell like something was wet and hasn't been dried through. When the food came, I had the lunch bento box. The rice smelled like it had been cooked with dish water and the bean spouts was spoiled. When I tried to talk to the manager, the manager insisted the food was just fine because the food was prepared on that day. I really don't care when the food was prepared, the ingredients themselves were spoiled. And the manager won't take the food back... Beware.
