The Scene – Tucked into a little street off the chain restaurant-heavy Sperry Road, Greenisland is a homey spot to haul anchor. The space, formerly a Domino's Pizza, has been neatly converted by Belfast native Sean O'Connell into a site with a mature, family-style deli milieu, with natural-wood panels and tables. Photos of Irish landscapes and the Chieftains set at a pleasantly low volume don't push the vibe too much. – – The Food – A menu rich in beef, fish and poultry has less traditional Anglo-Irish fare than expected, but standout shepherd's pie and…

Authentic, charming and worth the visit!!

by AvonLakeResident at Citysearch

My husband and I visited for the first time this past Saturday night and we were very happy we did! The service was great and the atmosphere is excellent. It's a great place tucked away and so unexpected! You MUST MUST MUST try the Irish Nachos - a unique, tasty and FILLING appetizer! The owner, Sean, couldn't be any sweeter - and we're planning to go back this weekend to try another menu selection (along with the nachos of course!). We'll be taking some friends along this time to show them the treasure we've found! Enjoy!!!!!

escape to green island

by mw74 at Citysearch

The green island is a refreshing getaway from the overstuffed, over-rated chain resturaunts that exist today. Beautiful wood and brick work welcome you to a cozy atmospere. Only the staff are more welcoming. My family loved the their irish nachos.

They were hot steak fries with swiss cheese, corned beef, and scallions. I had an 8 ounce beef filet that was tender, lightly seasoned, and had nothing to cut off. Our server was very polite and took great care of us. You dont have to be irish to enjoy the green island. It was great for my family, and it would also be a super spot for a night away with my wife. or even a burger with a friend. I cant wait to go back.

Good Food - Good Value

by 1toughcritic at Citysearch

Green Island now has it's full liqour license and it hasn't changed the make up of this little find. The Irish soda bread is some of the best around and is a nice compliment to the not so Irish menu. shepards pie is first rate, Fish and chips are fresh and crispy NOT soggy. Steaks are flavorful and tender, cooked to order. Service is prompt and friendly.

Too avoid a wait, eat later (after 8 on week days 8:30 - 9pm Friday and Saturday) You'll get more personalized service and won't be rushed.

If your looking for a relaxed place with good food, some warmth and charm find Green Island.

  • Pros: Reasonable prices, Food, Service
