Editorial Review for Halite – by Lucy Mckernan

In Short
A deep, bluish skylight welcomes customers to this tight-fitting, darkly-lit joint whose moniker pays tribute to Cleveland's salt mines. A gorgeous wood and chrome art-deco bar adds style; piped-in jazz and muted blue and yellow walls reiterate the motif. Signature dishes include deviled eggs with chopped tiger shrimp and green Sicilian olives; novel potato pancakes with goat cheese, apple fennel ragout and leeks; fish and chips with battered monkfish, sweet potato fries and housemade slaw; and heavenly bananas foster.

Wow! What a find! This place is a great value, esp. if you go on a Tuesday, when they have a $20 "fixed price" special. Eight of us went for dinner and tried to diversify our selections to get a good sampling of the menu. We each had a little bit of each other's selections and were all very impressed with our 3-course dinners. The calamari, pomme frites, and bananas foster were particularly good. I liked what I tried from everybody's entree, but preferred my steak (I was really in the mood). Our waitress was excellent, too. She was very knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations. I can't wait to return! Tip: Don't talk about your friends when they go to the restroom. They'll be able to hear you. Ha ha!

Pros: PRICE, selection, service

Cons: Our table seemed too close to the next (but we were a group).

Great place! Love their food! Prices are great, and the ambience is perfect....is really cozy, hip, ...and they have a good selection on their wine list.
