What People Are Saying About Pickwick & Frolic Restaurant

In Short – This two-tiered, Victorian-inspired spot brings white-linen dining, sassy martinis and laughter to the historic Cleveland Opera House site. Downstairs, a 425-seat comedy club offers post-Leno, but pre-sitcom, stand-up acts. Power diners appreciate the club atmosphere upstairs, while stylish patrons prefer the sleek Saarinen chairs in the lounge. Wood-fired fare, such as flatbread pizza, and rotisserie chicken served with the house "porridge" (a hearty cheddar-ale soup) headline the rustic American menu in the dining room. –

Nice Fun Evening

This is a very nice place, and great for a fun evening out.
Don't eat here before the show

Whoever recommended the food at Pickwicks has not eaten tastey food. The food was too salty which is usually a sign of an inexperienced chef. The food was swimming in the sauce rather than being complimented by it.
Initially we were waited on quickly and got our water and warm rolls so the first impression was favorable. After that our table was forgotten. Once we finished eating our table was never cleared one of my pet peeves when eating out. Also I substituted kale for spinach on my dish and was charged extra for doing so although this was not mentioned at the time I made the substitution. There were two dishes on the menu priced the same only one came with spinach which I do not eat and the other featured kale. Who knew there would be an extra charge?
I would not recommend this restaurant when there is a city which offers many other options.
- Cons: poor service, over priced mediocre food
Poor Service and Food at Pickwick and Frolic!
by AJingle at Citysearch
The service and food was terrible. We waited for 25 minute in a semi empty dinning room just for the waitress to come to our table. Then the food took for ever to show up . the quality of the food was at best questionable, almost without exception, Very bland. It looked and tasted like food from a cheep buffet left sitting out too long.
The waitress attitude was one of indifference, She seemed more interested in talking to her coworkers than our table. Overall the experience left us feeling frustrated and cheated. What was supposed to be a special night turned out to be a big disappointment.
We will never return to Pickwick and Frolic!.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Poor Service and Bad Food
Menu food was good, stay away from the Sunday brunch
by traceyTgirl at Citysearch
Lunch from the menu was good when I went. I was disappointed in the Sunday brunch however. It wasn't that great of a choice and they wouldn't cut the roast beef. I noticed long lines developed continuously when new people came in. For that price I thought that was pretty cheap of them.
Great service, fun, warm atmosphere and SOMETHING different to do!!!!

I have been to Pickwick & Frolic Restaurant and Club two times now and both have been great experiences. The first time, we just went and enjoyed an ABSOLUTELY hilarious comedian at Hilarities comedy club (which is right inside and downstairs). This made us want to come back and we did, about a week or two before Christmas and had a nice dinner (their meatloaf was excellent and very hearty and their warm flatbreads and dip were extraordinary!) After dinner, we went downstairs to their (absolutely fabulous and beautiful martini bar) and cabaret. The SHOW WAS FANTASTIC! The performance was more like something you would see at a Las Vegas cabaret and something rarely experienced in Cleveland, Ohio. I highly recommend their Christmas show, it was wonderful with good drinks (try their Moscato wine!) and a nice atmosphere. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and we'll definitely be back, perhaps converting more of our friends to "Pickwick and Frolickers!"
- Pros: Very unique and beautiful atmoshere, not often seen in Cleveland.
- Cons: None!
