Editorial Review for Hotel Gansevoort – by Karen Hudes
The Scene
LED lightboxes, which shift in color from night to night, help create an aura around the exterior and ground floor of this 14-floor downtown hotel. The airy lobby is decorated with a Matisse-inspired rug, mohair paneling and eel-skin columns. On the roof is a lounge with a retractable glass top--and prime view over the Hudson--as well as a 45-foot-long heated swimming pool with underwater music and lighting.
The Details
The 187 rooms have nine-foot ceilings and are furnished with a pull-out sofa, feather bed and hypoallergenic down duvet, plasma-screen TV, CD/DVD player and complimentary Wi-Fi connection; all suites include larger TVs and desks, in addition to two small step-out balconies. Bathrooms are granite ceramic, with a custom marble and stainless-steel sink, temperature-controlled shower and Molton Brown toiletries. In keeping with the luminous aesthetic, the closet and bathroom doors glow with berry, green, indigo or rose light.

User Reviews for Hotel Gansevoort

My husband and I loved our stay at the Gansevoort. The service was very friendly and accommodating, our room was gorgeous, and we spent the whole time hanging out by the pool and relaxing! The pool was pretty small, but it wasn't crowded. We went up for a drink at the rooftop bar, howerver, which was incredibly tacky. I felt like I was in Miami circa 1990. But the hotel itself, specifically our accommodations, were lovely.
Pros: rooms, luxury, service
Cons: small pool, tacky bar

over priced, horrible rude service!1 bouncers at door where giving me problem at door to enter the hotel i stayed in. do not go or stay here. same applies for night club, extremely over priced drinks and the level of service is horrific, staff makes you feel as if they are doing you a favor, meanwhile they have no concept of "hotel service" bar and rooftop lounge going down hill, i used to go a couple of years ago, door men let all the wrong people in, stay away from this place, bouncers cocked attitude not worth sitting on line for more then 10 seconds, hotel staff at front desk just as rude as the doormen, stay away, try a traditional hotel with friendly service, bunch of ho-bo's work at this place,
Pros: nothing
Cons: everything
