Editorial Review for Miguel Lopez Salon & Spa – by Joanna Prisco
In Short
Dripping in pink, velvet and other baroque appointments, this modern salon evokes a princess's boudoir. The ultra-girly vibe, alongside the namesake stylist's snipping skills, attracts the likes of Betsey Johnson and other A-listers. Groups of girlfriends follow suit, living the good life by getting pedicures in a semi-enclosed, pillow-strewn nook. Cut and color clients get doted upon in four honey-leather swivel chairs, and a manicurist chats convivially across the room as she shapes and polishes 10 dainty fingertips.

This is a comfortable place with good service. Miguel is a serious professional and business person -- he's been working in this field for ages, and has seen it all. First time I went in he gave me a great cut, but the color wasn't what I had in mind. No questions asked, no fuss, no extra charge: he had me back iat a time of my convenience and quickly adjusted my color to my liking. A nice feature of Miguel is that you don't feel like you need to talk to him (although if you want to, he's a great guy). Highly recommend. Only downside is that he is a bit expensive. But the result is worth it ... this guy is a gifted stylist!

After getting another expensive and shapeless chop job by one of the resident narcissists at Bumble and Bumble, I found this lovely salon on LaFayette Street, easy to walk in, no stairs or slow elevators to get to it, inviting colorful atmosphere, nice people all around the room, good vibe. I got a wonderful haircut by Miguel and definitely will continue to go there from now on. No narcissistic over-wrought stylists with ten assistants here, but instead, a real pro doing your hair and speaking to you like you are a human being. I really liked this place and highly recommend it.
