Editorial Review for Black Pearl – by Lori Midson
In Short
The high-ceilinged dining room of this airy East Washington Park hot spot, outfitted with banquettes and wooden tables, is congenially crowded and infectiously noisy with neighborhood hipsters in party mode. The ever-changing, market-driven menu, which always includes fresh oysters from the raw bar, has also featured dishes such as iced cucumber soup, seared halibut with lump crab hash and a lobster BLT with apple smoked bacon and heirloom tomatoes.

I've been wanting to try this place for a few weeks now and finally had the opportunity on Wednesday. It was amazing! There was hardly anyone there, due to the DNC. The host was very gracious, service was great, ambiance was great! The food, is sort of tapas style, but a little bigger portions. All in all, one of the best nights out to a new restaurant in a long time. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT!
Pros: Everything
Cons: NONE

Recently visited The Black Pearl for 3rd time in last 3 months, I guess I am becoming a "regular". Happy hour features Oysters shucked to order, and all drinks from the bar. Already great start in my opinion, but my most recent expirence at the Black Pearl was definitely the most impressive. I brought 12 people from work to the restaurant for happy hour, and then we decided to stay for dinner. Not expecting them to be able to put us all at the same table for outdoor patio dinner service, we were suprised when the manager had arranged the entire community table for us outside. When I asked how he arranged to do that he says, everyone is a VIP at the Black Pearl. Needless to say I looked like a celebrity to my friends at the office, and it was only my 3rd time in. My business partner( ultra high maintence vegatarian) is still raving over his strawberry and Brie Gnocci, and the wine list! Thank you so much guys for creating such a special evening, everything was magnificent per usual.
Pros: VIP service for everyone, oysters shucked to order, organic meats and fresh wild caught seafood.
Cons: N/A
