I attended Fit Challenge in 2005 for 3 months. Within those 3 months I lost 24 pounds. Gwen's no nonsense helps you to be more accountable for your own actions. I knew that if I did not follow the diet and exercise I would not get the result I was looking for nor could I look to Gwen to pat me on my back and tell me it's ok. While you are in orientation they let you know exactly what you are in for, she pushes you to be the best you, you can be. I think within the last 20 years or so Americans have gotten so use to sugar coating that we have completely lost ourselves. I did not attend Fit Challenge for anything more than weight loss, I wasn't interested in knowing that the only reason my thighs were huge was because my aunt gave me too many pancakes when I was 3, Results was my goal. Period. Being committed, hard working and pushing towards your mark no matter what, at Fit Challenge...is the order of the day.
Pros: You will lose Weight
Cons: parking is tight

I'm all for the bootcamp, no nonsense approach to losing weight. It has its value and can be very successful in motivating people to work hard. But the buck stops when the bootcamp style seeps over into the style of delivery for customer service. Imagine paying from $91 - $170+/month to work out in a small cramped storefront space for 45 minute sessions yet being publically berated over a microphone for merely asking a question - "Will you stop interrupting me! Go get on a step!" - and that was just when asking how to make a payment. The dusty walls, poor ventilation, mustiness, and decaying, molded ceiling tiles that never got fixed the summer I was there, were a recipe for respiratory disfunction. Arbitrary parking fees in excess of $55 are commonly imposed on members as well. The owner, aerobics instructor, payment processor and absolute tyrant is ever present and from her rule there is no recourse to reconcile any greviences customers may have - and due to fear of humiliation, pitiful few even dare ask. Serving a predominantly black, female population - Fitworks is a medieval manor, run by a sadistic, oppressive and money-driven steward who, in the absence of the feudal lord, treats most of her "clients" with the disdain of lowly serfs. The most disturbing situation that ocurred while I attended was the owner's reaction to a woman who passed out immediately after class one day. The owner removed everyone from the "club" but not before screaming at a member trying to summon help to "Never try to call 911 in here!" despite the woman who lay on the floor drifting in and out of consciousness. Luckily for the owner, the woman recovered in this incident. If you like to be in a clean, positive environment where you will be treated with respect and dignity while you lose weight, I CHALLENGE you to get FIT at any of a number of other bootcamp facilites where you will actually get what you pay for and the cost will be far less than your self-respect.
Pros: You will lose weight - for a season
Cons: mean-spirited owner and operator, inferior service, extreme rudeness
