We were seated, and were promptly told that we are not able to get anything off of the hibachi menu at the sushi area. Since I do not eat sushi I was disappointed. Once I was near finishing the glass of wine we had ordered at the bar and brought with us to the table I began looking for the waiter. He was moving fast back and forth, and did not glance over at us at all. Literally 45 minutes went by, and still no wine. Yes, the waiter was walking by, and with many other drinks, but no wine. We place another order for the same glass of wine for my significant other, figuring that he will be done with his by the time the waiter comes by. The sushi we had ordered around 8pm (which was a few pieces of one type of sushi) had come, and it was 9:30pm. At about 9:45pm he sets down our food and says, Sushi Platter. We had written out ?S-H-I-N-T-O P-L-A-T-T-E-R? on the sushi order form. He asked if I would just eat this instead, and I let him know that I do not eat shushi. He said that it would be a while if we needed to replace our order, and as I was telling him to go to the kitchen and tell them to make our order NOW, my significant other just told him that we need to leave. Our waiter went to get the manager and returned about 10 minutes later, with no manager and said that we did not have to pay for any of the food ? I was confused, because all I had was some rice and a glass of wine, and I have been here for 2+ hours. I told him that we are leaving in 60 seconds if the manager does not come, and guess what? no manager. We got up and walked out. A young man let us know that we don?t have to pay for anything, and as I walked through the crowd waiting to be seated, I just shook my head at them and stormed out.
I will never go back to Shinto and discourage anyone from going. The service was so ridiculously poor, and they made no effort to make it up to us. I highly recommend going to KIKU, which is located at 2764 Aurora Ave, Naperville, IL.
