XO is the spot!. I?m from the Atlanta, Georgia area and was recently visiting a friend in Cleveland who took me to XO Prime for dinner. She had been telling me about this place every time we talked and I finally got a change to go. It?s a really cool place and I can see why she likes it. The food was awesome! I had the stuffed calamari with chorizo; I have never had anything like this. She had the filet and the truffled creamy corn, which is her favorite dish. She allowed me to sample and I almost fell out of my chair. The crowd seemed really hip for Cleveland and I look forward to going back on my next visit.
XO is our favorite steakhouse in Cleveland!. My husband and I recently relocated to Cleveland from New York and needless to say, we are spoiled with great prime steak houses. On previous trips to Cleveland we were lucky to find XO based upon a recommendation from a good friend. We were impressed from our first visit and have since considered XO our favorite restaurant. The quality of the steaks, in addition to the ambiance and service are the closest to what we were used to experiencing in New York. Everytime we feel home sick and want great food and a fun atmosphere, we take our friends to XO. We think Cleveland is lucky to have a place like XO Prime Steaks.
High $$$ for what?.
If you want the most high priced restaurant in Cleveland for a steak that is not as good as Outback go to XO. We ate here for a birthday and paid over $300 for two people. My wife had noodles and shrimp that had a real bad fish taste to it, and I had a steak with way too much pepper on it. The ceasar salads had so much dressing and the tuna app had an awful smell to it. We ordered a few dirty martini's the glasses all had lipstick on it. $40.00 for 4 drinks! What a rip off XO is!!!!
Also there were only 8 people there that night at 7:30pm. The only place I would pay that kind of money for in Cleveland, Ohio would have been Circo on 9th street years ago.
Worst Dining Experience Ever. We waited 30 minutes to be seated - with a reservation. We were asked to go to the bar area and wait. When we sat down at the bar - we were asked to move by "G" the bartender, as someone was sitting there - the whole 30 minutes we waited - no one ever sat there. It took our server 20 minutes to greet us. When we ordered the crab cake appetizer our servers response "there is only one on the plate". The surf and turf was not even mediocre - it was gross. It was a dry on top and raw underneath lobster tail, a tough filet mignon served on top of overcooked risoto with globs of mozzarella cheese and mushy tomatos mixed in with a creamy looking pesto globbed on the side - I sent it back - it ruined my appetite. No apology from the chef - my husband had fries with his steak that looked like they came from a frozen bag of fries. Ketchup served in a small gravy boat. The bathrooms were dirty, the stalls were coming unscrewed from the wall, couldn't lock the door because the locks did not match up, toilet paper dispensers broken. When we told our server we weren't going to pay for such an unsatisfying experience, we were told "if you don't pay, I have to pay for this and I have three kids to feed". We negotiated 1/2 of the bill with them and left. Will never recommend or eat there again. The service from the moment we entered was poor at best. We called the owner to complain and we were told "well, you can't please everyone". There was no on-site management. Way over priced for the service and quality offered.
XO "Prime"??? "Poor" is a far better description. Don't even bother with this place!.
Despite being a chef, I do not get too harsh with any restaurant unless they really warrant it. XO Prime really warrants a harsh review. Back in Sept, I made reservations for Nov 14 quiet intimate table for 2. Nice to know that their idea of intimate dining was to seat us beside a birthday celebration of 10, even though there were plenty of other tables available. I didn?t want to risk embarrassing my boyfriend by insisting on another table but I should have as our waiter was very slow, and was exceptionally un-attentive to us. I guess he couldn't handle his only other table (the party of 10). I ordered a glass of wine & my boyfriend ordered water. It took 15 minutes to bring them, then later, when I ordered my 2nd glass of wine, it literally took 45 minutes.
The foie gras I had ordered was a complete disappointment. Anthony Bourdain would choke their goose if they served their measily 3 pieces to him, as 3 flattened grape tomatoes were bigger than the pieces of foie gras, and the scallops they sat on, was overcooked. I had the halibut which was also overcooked & my date had the ?special? which was surf & turf. Funny, but the menu stated it was $27 for the steak plus $20 to add a lobster tail?but we learned upon receiving the bill that the ?special? was priced at $79 even though both the steak (& type) and lobster was the same ounces as the menu listed. The steak seemed to be select, not prime. What was up with that? For $153 tab (1 app, 2 entrees, 2 sides, 2 glasses of wine) not including tip, I expected far more and with better service.
Fine dining requires a nice ambiance, with great menu selections, a high quality of proper proportions of food, not to mention, and exceptional service is a must?they miserably failed in all departments. Maybe they should get a visit by Chef Gordon Ramsay? I just know we won't go back, unless I see that Ramsay turns it completely around on Kitchen Nightmares! For fine dining at its best, I would say Dante instead.
you will never have steak any where else after you go to XO!!!!.
Z and his staff have made dining out for steak a downtown event. After eating at XO I cannot get a
steak that even compares. The quality of the prime steak is amazing. The side dishes are so delicious.
If you haven't tried XO you should!!!!
The Best Steaks in Town.....great side dishes too!!.
Recently, my family and I dined at XO and the food was great. Just about everyone ordered steak and each of them was prepared as ordered and the meat was the most tender we've had. We also had several side dishes to share and our favorites were creamy corn, truffle mac & cheese and collard green egg rolls. The side dishes were fresh and seasoned to perfection. One of our party members had the Halibut and she was quite pleased, as well.
We will definitely return to XO in the near future because not only was the food fantastic, the service was great too. The server ensured that our experience was outstanding!! Experiencing XO is a must!!
Great steak AND seafood!. Try the Halibut - best fish Ive ever had and I love Blue Point across the street... both are great and worth a try! Nice people, great food and great wine!
Spell "swank Warehouse District dining" in just two letters..
XO refers to the designation given a cellar's oldest and best cognac. This swanky lunch and dinner place features hardwood floors, spare and snazzy decor, and space-age bachelor-pad music (at rather high decibels); it's another class act for this busy downtown-destination corner.
An emphasis on unusual, rare and seasonal dishes means few daily specials. Scallops are a favorite here, either as appetizer (with foie gras) or entree (with Yukon smashed potatoes), although the real scene-stealers are the dipping sauces that accompany the Beggar's Purse sampler. Grilled venison loin, surprisingly uncommon in a region with a deer-population problem, is succulent. Rarer still is escalar, a smooth, tuna-like Pacific fish served with sticky rice and ginger miso broth.
