Friendly and good eating!. We visit Minh Anh frequently. It is run like a family restaurant, so the atmosphere is casual and friendly, and the service is prompt.

To start, we order the fresh shrimp rolls or the fried rolls. For dinner, we order pho or the vermicelli with the fried rolls. Their pho broth is great - it has a rich flavor and isn't salty. By far, the best we've had in Cleveland.

We've tried some other dishes (crepe and a beef dish), but were not quite as impressed. It may have been because we ordered them take-out. The crepe had too many onions and the beef dish was bland.

The sweet chrysanthemum (hot) tea and the iced french coffee with condensed milk are great drinks to augment the meal.

To update, there is ample parking in back. Credit cards (MC and Visa) can be used for meals totaling over $10.

This immaculate Vietnamese restaurant and market makes the street shine like lemon grass.. The Scene
In Cleveland's culinary culture, the idea of Vietnamese food may seem scary. But don't mistake the exotic fish tank at the entrance of Minh Ahn as a holding station for your order. Here, the food is peaceful and so is the service.

The Menu
The tastes, although divine, are rather conservative. The cinnamon beef soup is light with a hint of cilantro; eggplant spinach with tofu, mushrooms and squash comes in hot, sweet soybean sauce; and chicken lemon grass is cool with a touch of curry. Although obviously proud of their heritage, the staff at Minh Anh has made the wise choice to "Americanize down" to make the natives happy: The menu features vermicelli and chop suey to please those who think Asian food means noodles. The wildest dish is frog legs sauteed in coconut milk, and there's lots of hot sauce packets on hand for diners looking for a sting.

Take Some Home
Next door is a great Vietnamese market where patrons can purchase the ingredients to make their favorite dishes at home. Plus, it's reassuring to know the restaurant won't run out of anything listed on the menu.
