Woodmere >Corky and Lenny's
Best corned beef sandwich I have ever eaten, would like to know how to order some corned beef on the internet, is that possible?
Thanks, Mary Sisson
mmmm. it is loud and busy, but the food is wonderful. great place for lunch!
Corned Beef Heaven. It is like going to corned beef heaven and they have the greatest kosher dill pickles....
Yummmmmy!. I know most people go to Corky & Lenny's for sandwiches, etc.... but I personally love their all-day breakfast. They have the BEST potato latkes I have ever tasted! And, of course, I love their bowl of pickles. Yummmmmy!
MMMMMMMMMM Good!!!. The menu is endless and the sandwiches are to the sky. Great!
One of the best. I have lived in just about every corner of the country and I have never, ever found a two-inch thick corned beef on fresh rye like C&L. It's what so many chains and small-time delis strive to be, but it's completely authentic. My father used to pack his trunk with pastrami, bread, and cheesecake from the deli everytime we were in town. And those pickles... I wonder if they'll deliver to LA?
New York on the Cuyahoga. It ain't the Second Avenue Deli, but it's as close as you'll get this far west, and a lot closer than many deli wannabes in New York itself gets. Overstuffed sandwiches on a really decent rye? Check. Half sours, dills, and coleslaw? Check. The traditional deli desserts? Check. Crotchety but caring servers? Check. So? Whaddaya waiting for, an invitation?
From a bagel to a banquet. That used to be their tagline, and although I'm sure if they use it any more, it's still very fitting. Corky's has undergone a bit of a transformation in the past year or two -- they "upscaled" their dining area and stopped carrying some of the more outdated items on their candy counter. But you can still get sweet n sour whitefish (my mother's favorite, which she likes to follow with a piece of Corky's cheesecake), a block of halava, a chocolate phosphate, a Dr. Brown's celery soda and matzo ball soup. Try this: Cold beet borscht with a boiled potato, and all the pickles you can eat. With a side of rye bread and sour cream for dipping. Yum.
