Editorial Review for Bar 89 – by Heather Wood
In Short
From the outside, Bar 89 looks like an exclusive club with a blank facade and black-clad bouncer. Diners dress the part, too: Models clad in couture sip fruit-infused 'tinis at the arced mahogany bar; Soho-alites, rocking the latest $400 jeans, fill the black leather booths and coyly gorge on mounds of nachos, grilled cheese, herb-salted fries and burgers topped with everything from fried onions to Alfredo sauce.

I highly recommend Bar 89 if you are looking for a good place for a reasonably priced meal. I didn't see many tourists despite its SoHo location; it is in fact very low key and difficult to spot from the street. The decor is a little too plain for my taste, and the tables are a bit too small, but the incredible value and attentive service make it a worthwhile stop if you are in the area. I tried the burger alfredo and pork lettuce wraps - both were excellent.
Pros: incredible value
Cons: ambiance

Me and my man got this place recommended by a sells person from Broadway. He said the best about it so we were curious. The moment I walked in I felt in love with it. Clean, nice, good customer service, decoration, simplicity even the reasonable prices. I don't really like burgers or sandwiches but this place changed my mind. Drinx were well chilled and food properly cooked. Too much of a raw veggie tough. But what really impressed me was the bathroom. When I saw the see-thought glass I changed my mind about using it....later I realized how silly I was when It darkened once you walk in. I love it. Will go again when I go to NYC next time. At least to use the bathroom :-)
Pros: bathroom
Cons: plain walls
