Awesome place. Actually just wanted to comment on another comment. They do serve alcohol. They have for awhile now.
Can I say leftovers?. If you want a great meal with fair prices this is the place. The food is served in large portions but that is why they have to go boxes. The pasta sauce in my opinion is the best in the area. The place is small so if you come on a Friday or Saturday you will wait, but it is worth it. If you want pizza, well that is excellent as well. They use a sweet dough crust that makes the pizza as good as it is. So with a great meal and fair prices with leftovers for the next day, try Mama's, you won't be sorry.
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I never had marinara sauce like this before (quartered tomatos on pasta). I politely told the waitress that unfortunately I could not eat it and the OWNER (wife) wanted to charge me for the meal - even though I did not eat it. I explained that was my first time at the restaurant and was not aware of the way they made the sauce, I 'm sorry, I cannot eat it. The OWNER (now the husband) came to me at the table and YELLED at me, saying they sell their sauce by the gallons every day and if I thought I was getting a free meal it was NOT happening there! That was not my intention, in fact I had not eaten any of the pasta. I was also asked what I expected him to do with it, throw it away? I did not mean to insult them in any way, but apparantly this did. The owner (husband) however, did not have a problem insulting the other types of sauces because he asked me if I expected him to puree it and make it SMOOOOOTH. The owners actrions were totally uncalled for!! The restaurant was full of patrons, every one of which I am sure heard his outburst because all eyes were on him. That certainly is no way to treat a customer, especially a new customer. Well, they don't have to worry about me anymore, and I am spreading the word so nobody else gets treated in this manner.
Bring Your Appetite. The food is incredible, portions are HUGE and it's a wonderful value. The sauce for the pizza and p[asta dishes is one the chunky side with lots of garlic, but that's the way I like it...and judging from the packed crowd, so do many others. I recommend the pizza (very filling, hearty sauce) the Pasta Roberto (comes in a bowl that could feed the whole family) and the Grilled Chicken Salad (must weigh at least 3 pounds!). Don't fill up on the pizza-crust bread they serve before the meal, you'll be tempted to it's so good. Plan on taking home enough leftovers for at least another meal, maybe more.
Italian at its best.
This is one great restaurant! Prompt seating with a
courteous wait staff. The food is very tasty. The
portions are HUGE! Everything is fresh. The pizza
has the best sauce and dough (which is made daily). The garlic balls can't be beat.
Don't miss this one!. The best 'bread basket" in town. Portions of all items on the menu are enough for two diners. The pizza has a superb crust. Salads are fresh and the house Italian dressing is very tasty. Plan on taking home enough leftovers for at least two lunches. Probably the best Italian restaurant in a "strip mall" ever. Excellent for children. No alcohol, but thats OK sometimes.
