Best known for its burgers, the restaurant serves American dishes including pastas, steaks and desserts.
Food good, service poor

Went on a recent Monday night, and had the half price burgers and an order of match stix's. These are thin slices of onions and peppers battered dipped and fried. Very good.
Since no tables were available, we sat at the bar. The bar tender (owner?) was not pleasant at all.
Food was good, not very friendly service though.
Outstanding Food

I just moved into Kirtland and my neighbors highly recommended that I try the Kirtland City Tavern for dinner. My family and I went on a Monday night and were surprised to see a full house retaurant and a short waiting list. Little did we know that Monday's are 1/2 price burger night at the Tavern. I had a Burger and a bowl of homemade bean and ham soup and found it outstanding. My daughter tried the French Dip and hand cut fries, my son the Cajun Chicken and Broccolli Pasta. Both of them raved about their selection. Their menu features made from scratch entrees, and a wide variety of sandwiches and appetizers, all reasonably priced.
We will be back.
A smoky bar with bad food, bad service, high cost

I went to this restaurant because it was voted best hamburger joint in NE Ohio for 2001-02. I guess they forgot how to cook hamburgers since then because the burgers at the Kirtland Tavern are nothing to write home about. Burgers were really no better than McDonalds. The only difference is a 1/2 lb vs. 1/4 lb burger. The Fries were cold, the service was late and unfriendly. Food was missing from the appetizer (no wings for Combo appetizer). This restaurant does not take credit cards. Cash or Check only which I did not have either of.. Who ever heard of that in 2006? They have an ATM with a $2.75 "convenience charge"! How convenient! A Root Beer was $2.50 a bottle, extra ranch sauce was 35 cents, and the burgers were much overpriced and not that great. I will never go to this place again.
