Less than average. We had a nice size group there Saturday. Atmosphere is nice. Service is borderline laughable. Our server was bringing out food and had no clue what went where. At one point she said, "Oh well, you guys will figure it out". She left out plates on the table after we finished until we had to ask her to take stuff away. The food was in no way special. Totally average Mexican food. I stood at the bar when I first came in and waited close to 10 minutes for someone to even come out of the kitchen to tend the bar. I finally waived down someone and told them I had money i was willing to spend to get a beer. I finally got one. I'll never go back.
Best Authentic Mexican Food In Town. I love the food at this restaurant, I use to live right around the corner and my first visit they were so helpful and offered recommendations based on what I had a taste for... Definitely will be going back!!!
Best authentic mexican with a great vibe. My husband and I first came to this restaurant over 16 years ago. It is very deceiving. The building and neighborhood are a little daunting, but when you get inside the food, the atmosphere, the service....they are all just phenomenal. The Margaritas are absolutely lethal...they just sneak right up on you, and so far everything we have had has been fantastic. If you are feeling a little adventerous and don't like going to the mainstay places...try Villa y Zapata, it's well worth it.
Best Mexican in NE Ohio. Put's Luchitas and the rest to shame. Great authentic Mexican! Their red sauce and enchiladas are amazing! Margaritas by the pitcher are a great deal. Family run by caring quality people!
Scary building-- AMAZING FOOD!.
My fisrt visit was 15 years ago. I had just returned from Mexico and really didn't feel like having any Tex-Mex food since my palate had been spoilt by the authentic flavours of the region. One of my friends took me here and told me I would be surprised.
Everything that I've had on the menu is superb. The Guacamole Mexicano and Sopes are the recommended. The Chile Rellenos are the best in the city. Everyone who's tried them agrees. Try the Carne con Chile if you have a daring palette. Cool down with their "nuclear green" Margaritas. You will find so many items on this menu that cannot be easily found elsewhere. They sit amongst the tried and true tacos, enchiladas and burritos quite nicely. It's always fun to get a sample of what your other tablemates are dining on. Go with a group and say "hi" to Luca!
User review by lanena1. This restaurant has the best Guacamole ever the Margaritas are excellent
Authentic Mexican comfort food made from old family recipes..
The Scene
Tucked into a West Side neighborhood of discount stores and car repair garages, Villa y Zapata dishes good-sized portions of authentic Mexican grub at reasonable prices.
Did We Mention the Wandering Minstrels?
Small (about 75 seats) and secretive (there's no sign anywhere on the building), Villa announces its presence via the red, white and green stripes enveloping its facade. Inside, the neon margaritas arrive by the pitcher and the tortilla chips come with three dipping sauces. The mostly Mexican staff and mostly Anglo clientele leads to some lively international conversation. And yes, there are indeed wandering minstrels.
