Editorial Review for Agora Theater and Ballroom – by Tim Piai
The Scene
The long-running Agora is like an old Chevy van. It's battered and unpredictable, and that smell from the shag carpeting never quite goes away. But you can end up having epic adventures that just can't be duplicated in a sterile and soulless minivan. So there are your odds on an Agora show. More than a few times, you'll get a rough ride and a distorted sound system, but once in a while, you'll catch a wildly electrifying show. There's two stage areas for concerts, a smaller lounge for low-profile shows, and the much larger Agora theater for the bigger draws. Concessions exist in-house for cravings, with cheap beer as your chaser.
The Draw
The Chevy veers all over the musical highway these days--mid-level national acts range from JGB to Eek-A-Mouse to the World Series of Metal.

Insider Tips
ParkingBesides the tattered interior, the exterior can be equally as rough. Pass on Euclid Avenue parking and enter the venue's back lot located off Prospect.

The Agora is a fabulous place to see a show, especially if you're going to a show in the theater. It's one of the only general admission venues I've been to that has different levels on which to stand. Short people rejoice! You are far less likely to get stuck behind that tall dude with the giant head at a show at the Agora! When you add in concerts featuring great independent bands, you get a great place to see a show (even if it is a bit dirty & dank)
Pros: Excellent Sitelines, Good Booking, Good Parking
Cons: Sketchy Neighborhood

I love being at the Agora Theatre, especially during a sold-out theatre show. The style of the theatre is beautiful, showing its history. The staff is young and friendly. Definitely should be voted #1!! Every seat is a good seat and it is intimate, unlike Blossom, The Beachland, and the Odeon.
Pros: Great Staff, Good Bands, Great Views/ Intimate
Cons: Neighborhood
