Major changes boost a University Circle classic..
The Scene
Culture isn't everything, it's the only thing that might lead you to push away from the table at Major 's Club Isabella, a revamped little piano and paella joint tucked into a corner of museum-rich University Circle.
The Food
The new we'll-try-anything attitude brought by chef/owner James Major (formerly of Johnny's downtown) serves this hot spot well. Jazz trios swing starting at 9pm; by then, you're well into Mediterranean classics gathered from both sides of the pond, like Moroccan chicken or Provencal steak au poivre. Before a Cleveland Orchestra concert, a rush of tuxes and other black dresses refuel. Lunch draws college profs from the the University campus and stethoscopes from the adjoining med centers; if your pulled pork sandwich causes arterial vapor lock, there's a good chance there's a cardiologist in the house. Major's Club Isabella is a place for food and improvisation in a sophisticated setting.

Nice people/good food.
I go to Vino Note (formerly Isabellas) a lot for lunch. The food there is good. The crowd is almost exclusively University Hospital people. If you go for lunch, ask for William. He is an excellent server. The blonde girl (I forget her name) is also good. The others aren't so great. Not a bad choice for lunch.

Good food and Prime entertainment.
I had an extremely enjoyable evening meal with two friends at the newly renamed Vina Note. Service was excellent (server was Brandi), food very good, and the singer (Trisha O'Brien) was wonderful. I'll be back with friends!
