great authentic food, best italian in town.. This place is consistently awesome. It is not the ritziest place in the world, but that's the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars. My family I have been going for years. I've tried all the restaurants in little italy and this one has no competition. You see the same staff there year after year. That's proof they are good fair people and their product is awesome. See the line out the door on the weekend. The prices are mild, between $8 - $15 an entree. The gnocchi is unbelievable, Rachel Ray said the eggplant parmesan is better than most in Rome. Check out some of their recipes in her cookbook; as she did a show live from Trattoria. I would recommend this place to anyone. However, if you go during the feast, don't expect the same food. They have a totally different skeleton menu. I guess you have to when 30,000 people visit in one weekend.

Che cosa e accaduto a questo ristorante?. This past weekend I took my wife and in-laws (from la Sicilia) to Trattoria. I've been to this place four or five times in the past two years, and the food has always been excellent. However, I am highly disappointed with my last visit. Whereas the place was clean and the service was up to its usual high standards, the food was a low-grade knock-off of real Italian cuisine. I ordered the veal cutlet, which comes with a side of pasta. The cutlet came to my table cold and floating on a sea of grease -- more like a deep-fried hockey puck than an edible entree; the pasta was quite undercooked, and the sauce tasted of a tin can... acidic, metallic, and unseasoned.

My father-in-law's eggplant and sausage sandwich was better prepared, but the eggplant was bitter and undercooked.

In short, what had been one of my favorite restaurants served food that wouldn't make it at the Olive Garden.

What the hell happened to this restaurant? Were they saving their real food for the Feast of the Assumption? Or, have they cheaped out, gone commercial, and staffed their kitchen with "cooks" who wouldn't know pasta and fennel if it fell out of their culo? I hope it's the former.

Editorial Review by Christy Buena. Located in Little Italy, the eatery serves pasta and pizza in a casual atmosphere and offers live music and a full bar.

Love this place!!!. We truly love this place. We had our first date here, got engaged here, had children's graduation dinners, rehersals dinners, anniversary dinners, etc. here and every event was just right...It just feels like eating with family. Excellent food, reasonable prices and all around interesting place to dine. They go out of their way to make your experience nice. Can't say enough good things about Trattoria and staff.

Thanks for years of memories!!!
