Very rude and aggressive owner. I wish, I never went there because the way my friend and I were treated was really awful not to mention that the owner used the F word on us as well. The reason is because we told him that we were waiting too long on our food. Don't recommend it at all!

Great Selection, but very busy. Behind the rather unmarked entrance in the basement, lies the feeling of a true wine cellar complete with semi-musty smell. Racks of wine bottles line the right wall, straight ahead are glass-doored refrigerators with varying import/craft/microbrewed beers, and to the left is the bar. The beer selection is always changing with the seasons, but there's always something new. The bartender's are very knowledgeable and can point you in the direction of something newly in or perfectly suited to your tastes. On Friday and Saturday nights, it gets packed - the bar and all the tables. However, even on weekdays late at night (open til 2 am every night) it can be quite crowded, which goes to show that it has quite a following and keeps people coming back. Try one of Stone Brewing's beers or one of the new wines the bartender recommends - they're sure to be a great tasting experience if not a fantastic wine/beer.

Excellent selections of Wines and Beers!!. They have the excellent selections of wines and beers. I especially love the fruit beer selection!! Banana, Strawberry, Cassis beer...Kelp beer is tasty too! The place has a great cozy atmosphere. Little too noisy so you can't really hear what your partner is saying.. but highly recommended!!

Below-ground wine bar for those with tastes above white zinfandel.. The Scene
Claiming cultural superiority over the pub-obsessed West Side, the East Side has a decent argument, especially when it comes to wine. Along with many of the nearby restaurants, La Cave du Vin has a well-stocked selection that attracts graduate students, young professionals, Coventry beatniks and the after-theater crowd. And it may be the only wine shrine where knowledgeable bartenders crank up techno music at the end of the night.

The Draw
Along with more than 70 by-the-glass choices, the bar also has a selection of unique beers like the Belgian import Rodenbach Grand Cru and Bell's Beer from Kalamazoo. The cozy site is below street level, and its underground neighbor--Cafe Doro--will send over gourmet pizzas and appetizers from its kitchen. It's a nice place to hide out and soak up some legendary culture.

The cheese plate rules. Why La Cave is the best bar on the East Side of Cleveland: the wine and beer selection (extensive and reasonably priced); the cheese plates (served with fresh and dried fruits, crackers and bread); the patrons (a fascinating mix of chain-smoking Coventry folks, people who wandered over from BW3 and musicians/artists/writers); the TV (usually showing a "Simpsons" rerun); the lighting (dark, dark, dark); the staff (knowledgable, maybe a little rude, too, but not bad); the cheese plate. The parking is no good at all, though.
