The coolest museum in town. You can take your kids and no one will shush them. This was amazing to me. At the season opening they have a family art studio where parents can give kids a break from the sensory overload. The party was fun, there are lots of "the beautiful people". We'll go again when it's quieter and can really spend some time. Love it!

Since its founding in 1968, this galleryof rotating exhibits has become one of the best in America.. The Scene
Originally founded in a dry cleaner's storefront in 1968 and now part of the Cleveland Playhouse complex, this art museum has no permanent collection. Instead, it displays temporary exhibits that have ranged from the sublime (life-sized porcelain pigs facing a lecturn) to the ridiculous (television monitors chanting repetitive nonsense syllables). There's also a gift shop, an art rental program (for members), organized lectures, school programs, outdoor sculptures, and occasional special events and concerts suitable for the whole family.

The Collection
The center's comittment to cutting-edge art challenges art-lovers and casual visitors to find their own interpretations of works, though staff is also on hand to answer questions. To advance public education and awareness in art, the center offers workshops for children ages 4-15 (accompanied by a parent) on various Saturdays throughout the year. They also offer adult classes on traditional and non-traditional materials to create original art. Signing up for an art class is a great way to learn more about the center as you learn about art.

Hip, Hot and Cool. The Center is the place to be to see and be seen! No other museum in Northeast Ohio does what they do - fuse the hottest art of our time with programs that feature films projected onto the outside of their building, contemporary dance and music performances and slam poetry readings. Funky, cool and never stuffy - it's not your father's art museum!
