Not Best pizza...

I just ordered a pizza from Player's on Madison it was hot a fresh just out of the oven. I have to say that the selection of toppings is impressive, and they are fresh. They did however skimp on the basil which annoyed me because it was my only topping; considering the hostess didn't hear that I ordered tomato as well. the crust is below par. It is not what I would consider gourmet, my mother makes a similiar dough herself. If you want to try a nice pizza that I would consider perfect, try Pier W. They make a perfect Margherita pizza.

• Pros: Ambiance, fresh ingredients.
• Cons: Hostess; not polite.

One of Lakewood's best restaurants

Having lived around Lakewood for over four years I've found that Player's is one of the best local restaurants. Although I've only ever gotten carry-out (generally assorted apps), the food has been fantastic. There's also a very nice patio in the back.

The hosts have always been nice, but there was once a bartender with a very condescending attitude.

Best recommendation:

Crab and Rock Shrimp Cakes with corn-avocado salsa.

• Cons: Expensive

Over Rated

Service is Ok, Hostess is pleasant. There is nothing outstanding here. Has a Van Gough atmosphere IMO.

Order to table time is atrocious. Appetizers and salads were served at the time meal should have been.

No idea how mac and cheese deserves $17 with no sides? It didnt appear to be made with any type of above average cheese.

There is nothing "wrong" with the restaurant or service, it just is not my idea of a star rated place.

• Pros: Can be seated before 6pm without a wait.
• Cons: Close quarters, but due to lighting you dont feel it.
