Plato's Ideal. If you are like me, you conjure up ideals of concepts in your head and usually are disappointed by reality. Not so with Johnny's which is a Northern Italian Restaurant on the outskirts of Cleveland with an understated elegance and food so good it is unbelievable.

Old World atmosphere - Great Place. If you are interested in a fantastic meal and an old world environment, check Johnny's out. Try weeknights when there are less people.

This is where I come to see old friends including the new ones made there!!!. We have a catering business my husband is our Chef so we could be a bit fussy at times,But never here!!!The food is outstanding and the service not enough can be said for keeping great staff that's more like seeing family when you come in!

Uncle Beau,Johnny,Tim(Chef on Fulton)and Rickie are the name I know but lets not forget the rest of the staff amazing!!! I have never felt this taken care of until our honeymoon which was at The Walden another 5 Diamond est.Johnny's has kept this rating for a reason, they deserve it!

Treat yourself soon and if your dining in our warmer tell them you want to sit in the garden,it's hidden and beautiful! Rebecca and Nels Tornberg

Great experience. My wife and I went to Johnny's on 12/9. Very nice atmosphere and wonderful food. We would go back every day if we could afford it. You really don't mind paying a little more for a truly first class experience. Waiter was super and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Great Old Fashion Atmosphere. My first experiance here was Amazing!!!! We ordered the steak and I and never had a steak that tasted so good in my life (we still talk about it.) It was like butter. I took my boyfriend a few months later as he was leaving town and wanted a great final dinner only to apologize to him later. After we had talked it up so much he was as let down as me. The dinner left much to be desired. The steak was average and way too much veal on the menu. The atmosphere was still amazing and the staff was even better. The owner (his son?) was very charming and an old fashion gentleman. The waiter was older gentleman who obviously had alot of fine dining experiance. I hope it was just an off night because as much as I was let down the 2nd time the first time is still such a good experiance I will surely be back! GREAT Atmosphere!

It's been a while and it's going to be even longer. The decor and atmostphere at Johnny's are still great (we hadn't been in two years) but the food is not what I remember. We started out with the angel hair pasta with escargot appetizer (soy, cognac reduction) but it was so salty and unidimensional in flavors; I could feel my ankles swelling as I ate! The salads (argula with stone fruit; sounds exotic but turned out to be nectarines) were fine. The egg paparadelle with veal bolognese was outstanding but the red pepper pasta with rabbit sausage and sundried tomatoes was distinctly unmemorable. Bananas foster were good but certainly could have used the drama of tableside preparation. There were heavy smokers in the restaurant (how do they taste their food?) which really turned us off as it interfered with the food. Service was good but not the best I've had. Valet brought the wrong car but since it was the same model as ours we didn't leave with it instead. Overall an average experience

Best Restaurant in Cleveland!!. If you like delicious Italian cuisine then this is the place for you. They offer several outstanding veal dishes and their wine list is among the best I've ever read. Be sure and ask for Ricky when you make your reservation - he will add to your dining experience as he is a delightful waiter.

Incredible!. An amazing dining experience - one of the best in Cleveland! The food was wonderful, the service impeccable, and the ambience classy, but cozy. Be sure to try the shrimp dejon appetizer and homemade tiramisu for dessert! Bon appetit!

Don't let the neighborhood tavern exterior fool you; this a culinary heavyweight.. The Scene

Just minutes from downtown desks and sporting attractions, Johnny's pulls foodies from all compass points and a steady power surge of movers and cocktail shakers. Nestled in a working-class neighborhood near the historic St. Rocco's Church, dark woods, wild-animal print decor, leather banquettes and hand-painted wall murals provide the proper backdrop for some of the best meals in town.

The Food

Think culinary academy chops meet "Casino." The cheese-filled ravioli appetizer with smoked tomato sauce sets the tone, followed by a daily special that might be seafood risotto or veal medallions. The seafood pasta, with many chunks of things once finned and once shelled, could change a landlubber's ways; Caesar salads are outstanding, as are the steaks. Along with the well-regarded menu, diners are encouraged to make use of the ample wine cellar and skillful martini-making bar staffers.
