Editorial Review for Johnny's on Fulton – by John Hyduk
The Scene
Just minutes from downtown desks and sporting attractions, Johnny's pulls foodies from all compass points and a steady power surge of movers and cocktail shakers. Nestled in a working-class neighborhood near the historic St. Rocco's Church, dark woods, wild-animal print decor, leather banquettes and hand-painted wall murals provide the proper backdrop for some of the best meals in town.
The Food
Think culinary academy chops meet "Casino." The cheese-filled ravioli appetizer with smoked tomato sauce sets the tone, followed by a daily special that might be seafood risotto or veal medallions. The seafood pasta, with many chunks of things once finned and once shelled, could change a landlubber's ways; Caesar salads are outstanding, as are the steaks. Along with the well-regarded menu, diners are encouraged to make use of the ample wine cellar and skillful martini-making bar staffers.

My first experiance here was Amazing!!!! We ordered the steak and I and never had a steak that tasted so good in my life (we still talk about it.) It was like butter. I took my boyfriend a few months later as he was leaving town and wanted a great final dinner only to apologize to him later. After we had talked it up so much he was as let down as me. The dinner left much to be desired. The steak was average and way too much veal on the menu. The atmosphere was still amazing and the staff was even better. The owner (his son?) was very charming and an old fashion gentleman. The waiter was older gentleman who obviously had alot of fine dining experiance. I hope it was just an off night because as much as I was let down the 2nd time the first time is still such a good experiance I will surely be back! GREAT Atmosphere!
