Pleasant Saturday Night. Live piano music was a rare plus for a later evening dinner. Good food, and amazing peppermint ice cream for dessert! Interesting atmosphere, sort of a family restaurant, but the decor is right out of old Hollywood. An enjoyable evening on a cold winter night. I could have listened to that piano all evening!
blast from the past. If you like world war one or two themed things, this is the place to come eat. Breakfast is pretty decent. Average priced. Overall the food is just average. The atmosphere is unique, you will find yourself staring at the walls of this place, which is covered in movie stars of years gone by, also local sports heroes of yesteryear and world war memoirbilia. An old popcorn machine adds to the flavor of the past. Located in the last real nice neighborhood in Cleveland (West Park) , also consider the Red Lantern which is in the same plaza on the opposite end.
Great FAMILY restaurant.
This absolutely a great place for all members of the family. Not very romantic or quiet by any means. Children wander. Wait staff must have been having a "Bad Hair" day.
Food quality was that of canned or pre-made variety.
Lots of fancy names for ordinary things.
Stench of restroom deodorizer linger on in nose and dining areas long after being seated.
Prefer take-out over dining in.
Baked Potato Soup. Tuesday's soup of the day is the BEST Potato Soup around.
old times. Me and my frinds have been going there for years .We have gone after church, first day of school i even went there after my communion.I have been going there since i was 4 i love that place and i would never let it go .
A pleasant, movie-themed dining experience in a cozy suburban strip mall setting..
The Scene
Gene's is a Kamm's institution, a family restaurant with a vague 1940s/1950s motion-pictures theme. You won't find a wait staff in period dress, but the walls are bedecked with cool era-appropriate movie posters, star photos and placards urging folks to support the WWII U.S. military effort. The vibe is serene, and if there's a safer place for a first date, we'd be hard-pressed to find it.
The Food
Good, affordable meals are a cut above diner food but nothing fancy. Somewhat greasy entrees including fried fish, burgers, grilled cheese and spaghetti have names like the Marilyn Monroe, the Frank Sinatra and the Benny Goodman; it's either cute or cutesy, depending on your point of view. Call it what you will--you won't be disappointed in the tastes or the prices.
The Crowd
Generally on the older-couple side, but well-behaved (!) high-school kids are not uncommon. There are also those who come for the innocent corniness of the place.
