The Scene
Cleveland may not have much Iberian sunshine, but a bright island of Spanish and Portugese cuisine can be found at this spot in the Warehouse District. Inside, the restaurant boasts long, warmly appointed dining rooms with elbow-to-elbow seating good for both conversation and entree envy among the casually attired crowd.
The Food
The kitchen labors mightily to pay homage to classic dishes like veal with lemon and brandy, and chicken with a potent garlic sauce. Everybody comes for the paella Valenciana (the national dish of Spain, according to the waiter); well-musseled, chock full of spicy sausage and served with saffron rice, it's as good as any ethnic bowl in town. Meat lovers will thrill to the three-pound porterhouse steak. The wine list boasts over 300 labels, with an astonishing array of port wines.

This restaurant is located in the Warehouse district. When we walked in, we were promptly greeted and seated. The waiters are extremely friendly and accomodating. I ordered the garlic soup, whic really didn't taste like it had any garlic in it at all. For my entree, I had the shrimp with garlic sauce, which also tasted like it had no garlic but was instead covered in hot sauce. My friend got the lamb chops, which were not what you would expect lamb chops to look like. They looked like tenderloin pieces that were covered in tons of fat, barely any meat. At the end of your meal, they bring out a dessert tray. We tried the flan, which was the best part of the meal. If you're looking for a great dining experience, go here. However, if you are looking for great food, look elsewhere.

I'm sorry but I'm a huge lover of Spanish and Portugese food. When Big Tony was running the show at Mallorca, that was the place to be, the place to dine and be seen. You were treated like a king and no request was out of reach. The food was to die for. I don't know where Tony went but if he's managing another restaurant I'd like to find out because ever since he left Mallorca, it's gone down the drain. This Suzy guy is a joke who is managing now. The food is not the same and I feel sorry for their loyal waiters who have been there for year still giving quality service because this new joke for a manager they have running the show is nothing but an egotistical fat uneducated loser. I'm sorry but there is something to be said about a knowledgeable manager like Tony who knows the customer is always right and and an uneducated manager like this new Suzy guy who has no class and has no concern at all for it's clientele that spend the big money there. After my last visit there, I will never return. Did they take away the great chef when Tony left or what? If anyone knows where Tony went with that great chef please post. Thank you and don't visit Mallorca you'll be disappointed. I would recommend either Blue Point or Johnny's Downtown if you're in the warehouse area for now.

My family and I, along with many friends have dined at Mallorca for years because of their quality food and great service and attention to detail. It seems they have changed managers since the beginning of this year and things just aren't the same. No wonder it's not as packed as it used to be the last couple of years. The food has been coming out cold and tasteless. We feel rushed for no reason with no one waiting to be seated. After complaining to there new, bald headed idiot of a manager they brought on this year, all he had to say was I'm sorry but we're breaking in some new servers. Are you kidding me? He didn't offer to fix the problem or anything he just blamed it on someone else. This never would have happened when there other manager Tony was there. Another thing was there "well known" paella. It's just not the same it's like there's no love and no flavor for this special dish. They are killing this place. So sad because it really used to be something special. We absolutely will not dine there again until they bring Tony the manager back or at least until they get rid of this useless fat balding idiot of what they call a manager. What a joke and destruction of such a fine restaurant.
