Great New Location, Same Charming Atmosphere. After a few weeks of down-time, Ohio City's finest wine bar has re-opened across the street - next door to The Flying Fig. The space is bigger; but the atmosphere couldn't be cozier! The glass pours and wines by the bottle stand-out for both their boutique selection and outstanding taste. The food compliments the wine perfectly and the various small plates are ample enough to create an entire meal. There's no place nicer to take a date or meet a friend....we had a great time, my girlfriends and I, and we will definitely make this a regular stop.
Best Wine Bar in Cleveland. What can you say, it's the best. Awersome wine list, huge selection. Friendly service, ambiance is great whether you are meeting a friend for a drink or on a special date. Layed back, trendy but not main stream. By far one of my favorite spots in Cleveland.
The place you've been looking for. Simply the best wine bar in the Cleveland area. Selection, service, and most importantly, the ambience, - all outstanding. Location in Ohio City brings an eclectic crowd to this quaint wine bar. Terrific place to enjoy great wine and appetizers with your significant other or a group of small friends. Cozy during the winter, and patio seating outside during warm summer nights. I always have a great time here!
There's just something about wine that puts you on your best drinking behavior, and here's where to practice..
The Scene
Unlike the Edgar Allen Poe story about the man who tragically gets locked in a wine cellar, being held prisoner in this brick-encased bar wouldn't be the world's worst sentence. The smallness of the bar increases its intimacy, and the staff is trustworthy and educated--something to be commended in a place that offers more than 70 wines by the glass, 700 by the bottle.
The Draw
A diverse collection of whites, reds, ports, Madeira and sherries are offered, along with light Hors d'oeuvres. A highlight is the baked almond brie, a soft, creamy cheese topped with almonds and baked in a puff-pastry shell, accompanied with warm baguette slices and a generous arrangement of fresh fruit. The Rodney Strong Pinot Noir is a safe and ripe beginning. Follow with another sure thing, the Ravenswood Zinfandel or a Muga Reserva.
Step back into time. Step back in time and forward to the best wine bar in Cleveland. You may even forget that you're in Cleveland while enjoying the cozy Victorian atmosphere inside or the all to much European cafe outside. Be sure to leave your European accent behind.
