The Skinny
Inspired by owner Larry Collins' love of Far East street markets, City Buddha offers a large selection of bronzes, boxes, baskets, mirrors, furniture and artifacts mostly imported from Southeast Asia. Collins and his friends stock the store personally, returning from their frequent travels with masks, scents, Buddhist and Hindu deities (well, replicas of them), kites, pyramid cabinets, folk-sculpted monkeys and--best of all--exquisite movie posters (bigger than your living-room rug) of both Hollywood exports and Asian pictures.
The Scene
The original, larger and better City Buddha location is right next door to a funky decorative gallery called Art Attack and across the street from John T. Zubal's excellent used bookstore. The Eastern Religion Big Wigs must be looking over the store fondly, as City Buddha now has a second location in Lakewood's Madison Village district.
