Editorial Review for Great Lakes Science Center/Cleveland Clinic OMNIMAX Theater – by David M. Simon
The Experience
The Great Lakes Science Center is completely hands-on: You push handles, pull ropes and cables, and touch everything. If school was this much fun, we'd be a nation of scientists. Along with the permanent exhibits, there's always a large children's discovery area.
Features
It's easy to spend the day here getting lost in exploration, but save an hour for the Omnimax Theater. We're talking a cinematic experience unlike any other. You lean back in your plush seat inside a giant dome while a 70mm Imax film is projected into a four-story bowl-shaped screen around you, drawing you into the middle of it all. It can actually be a little overpowering, especially for young children, so viewing fare tends to be science-oriented documentary spectacles.

I am a 27 year old auntie and LOVE my nephews. I live in Atlanta and communte home to Ohio about six time a year. Every single time I go I look forward to loving on my three nephews. I took them and four other children to the Science Center and they absolutly loved it. We did the exhibits and watched a film on the IMAX theather. As a parent you can not pass this place up. Since I don't have any children of my own I love for them to experience new, fun and educational ideas.
Pros: Right off the e-way, near the lake, easy to find

The is a superb, fun-filled, informative museum for both adults and children. Its countless interactive teaching sites are educational and user friendly. It is a great way for children to learn how the world around them actually works. The omnimax theater provides a three dimensional experience that enables the viewer to become totally emersed in the visual and aural presentation. Last, but not least, the museum is also an architectural/visual treat in of itself. The immediate proximity to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is also a plus
Pros: Things to do, Value for cost, good parking
