Editorial Review for Record Revolution – by Dave Hill
The Scene
Aside from a couple coats of paint and maybe an extra piercing or two on the youthful staffers over the years, this Cleveland Heights institution remains untarnished by the Starbucks era. It's rough, ragged and relatively free of music gurus. Some shifts you'll luck out and get some help, but most of the times you're free to wander and wonder.
Extra Special
There are plenty of supplemental buys. Grab yourself a rare concert video bootleg or pony up the cash for that extra-large poster of Morrissey you've been dying for all those years. Oh, and it wouldn't hurt to snatch up few discount cd's while you're at it.
Beware
The accessory section is tempting--but chances are good that the items on the Revolution clothes rack have been starring in a clearance sale in New York or L.A. for a month or so. If you really want to get the other kids jealous, you better plan on a road trip to the big city.

Insider Tips
One of Cleveland's BestNominated for best record store for their extensive racks of recordings. Work your way through now before someone buys out their lease and you have to start using the word "venti" all the time.
Need a Hand? You need to ask. You're in the Coventry district. You're supposed to know what you're doing.

OK, so it may not stock the hottest goods, the most recent trends or the most comprehensive collection. But I've always had a soft spot for the Revolution -- you never know what goodies you WILL uncover here, and that gives the store that sense of the true underground, back before MTV coopted indie rock and made the rock village globally bland.
