The Scene – The best-loved macrobiotic-friendly joint in town is the place where herbivores with navel rings and carnivores in polo shirts can chow down together. With its shaded ceiling lights and high-backed booths, this could be any quick lunch stand. – – The Food – The menu runs to soups, sandwiches and salads, with lunch and dinner plates like flame-grilled eggplant baba ghanoush and a shiitake mushroom and green bean bowl the standouts. No one will flinch if you're into flesh (not much, at least), so go ahead and try a corned beef on pita. Some combos named for…
Something for Everyone
by DavidinShaker
As a frequent, long-term patron of Tommy's, I can honestly say that it's one of my favorite restaurants in Cleveland. There truly is something for everyone on the menu. Personal favorites - always recommended to friends - include the French Onion Soup, Fries, & Shakes.
This place is not cheap. It's not uncommon to walk out after a Saturday lunch for 2 with a 20 - 30 buck bill. Suffice to say, I think it's well worth it.
My biggest gripe about Tommy's is the customer service...or lack thereof. From the moment you walk in, you're usually crushed by a wall of waiting customers frustrated with the haphazard registration and seating process. Regulars will usually help newbies find the dreaded list. The wait and service staff tend to operate in the zombie realm. The bottom line remains, I come here for the food....not the wait staff. Once seated, service is usually pretty fast and accurate.
Tommy's is in a class of it's own. The menu is diverse and unique. If you've not tried it, make a point of going. Young, old, hip, punk, funky or whacked...the people in the dining room make the experience truly Tommy's and uniquely Coventry.
- Pros: Menu diversity, Unique Experience, Outside of the Box
- Cons: Service/Staff, Cost, Wait

Tommys is a mixture of the good and the bad. Their milkshakes are fantastic and there are quite a few items on their menu that are worth trying no matter how strange they may seem. The service, however, can be really spotty. I've found much better service if I dine in yet when I get food to go, I've often found myself waiting for upwards of half an hour. The last time I was there, I left without my food out of pure frustration in trying to flag a girl down so I can eat. Back to the food...lots of it is delicious but often quite greasy and somewhat overpriced. This is not the place it used to be.
- Pros: A few neat menu items, milkshakes
- Cons: Terrible take-out service, greasy food
Location saves this place

I have been here quite a few times. When I didn't live in Cleveland, I would go to Coventry and Tommy's to eat and thought it was pretty good. Once you get used to it though, and have been to Coventry enough, and have eaten at other places, it just isn't as good anymore. I will agree that the fries and milkshakes are very good. As far as vegetarian food goes, nearly everything they have is average at best. And, please go to Aladdin's if you're looking for hummus, baba, falafel, etc. Their mediterranean food is plain aweful.
- Pros: Location. Good place to grab some food in between looking at records and toys. Milkshakes.
- Cons: Below average vegetarian food.
