The Specs
For more than 20 years the Sharper Image has been the leader in cool stuff. Somehow even arch-nerd accessories (laser pointers, Darth Vadar masks) achieve a 007-level of suave when they appear in the famous S.I. mail-order catalog. The tony Eton Center shopping pavilion hosts Cleveland's representative Sharper Image showroom, where most every one of their sleek excercise devices, PDAs or kinetic sculptures, as depicted in print or on the Internet, can be touched and tried.
Price Data
Sharper Image items are pretty premium, most of all when the store's name appears on the gadget. We remember a nice desktop slide viewer that went for $69 in photo catalogues costing $199 under the Sharper Image moniker. Ouch! Polite, helpful and well-attired clerks are a bonus, and you can get around the priciness of S.I. inventory by monitoring the store for specials and regular auctions.

The Eye-Trek (from Olympus) is a wraparound, gogglelike device that plugs into your VCR, DVD or satellite dish and brings the video image as close to your corneas. Comes with power cord, connecting cables, power source and chargers and carrying case; all for $899.
