The Scene – The East Side Pearl's multi-level dining room is a spotless, "lite-rock" version of traditional Chinese motifs, a late '70s-chic atmosphere designed for diner demographics that range as far as the Great Wall. Besides an occasional pesky server (seemingly required by law on the East Side), the Pearl experience is excellent, and the balanced dishes consistently delicious. – – The Food – A consummate guardian of the tastes and textures of haute Chinese cuisine, the Pearl fills a well-dressed clientele with honey-dipped pork and seafood hot pots.…

The East Side's Best Chinese Restaurant
by clevelandkid1 at Citysearch
The pearl has been an east side staple for as long as I can remember.
Nothing has changed: quality ingredients, simple, comfort food, that's not too heavy, not too salty, not too oily, and very flavorful. I've been a regular there for the past 15 some odd years, and have tried just about everything. I usually just get the pad thai with shrimp and chicken; it's my go to favorite meal. But if you want to try something different I also love the cursted pork in Hoisuin barbecue sauce- its an awesome summer dish. The portions are big enough to share (at dinner time) so I come with friends or family and we just order a couple dinner entrees and split a fried rice.
They have the best wonton soup and the best shrimp fried rice in cleveland. And that's just a simple fact, Go to any other chinese restaurant in Cleveland, then compare their wonton soup and fried rice to the pearl's...and you will see that there really is no comparison.

We started going to the Pearl of the Orient restaurant when I was 7 years old. It was my parents' favorite restaurant. I remember when my father got older and more frail by the day, the owner Rose Wong would customize his favorite dishes due to the very restrictive diet he had to adhere to. I am 32 yrs old now and I frequent the Pearl. with my two children. The restaurant has maintained it's high standards in both quality of food and service. Best of all, the attention to detail and customer satisfaction is rare in today's restaurants industry.
- Pros: Great food, warm and inviting decor, friendly service, great value
- Cons: Better wine list

We've made Pearl of the Orient a regular. Everything is fresh and prepared to perfection. We usually opt for take-out, but dining in is always a pleasure, too.
