Stevenson's, is a cheap eat worth the abuse?.
Stopping in at Stevenson's has always been a part of my frequent trips to Euclid. It was what you did after a round of disc golf down the road. I always enjoyed the lil fella (burger w/ spec sauce) and fries (fresh cut) coming straight off the well seasoned grill.
There is always some local mircobrew (Thirsty Dog) on tap to go along with the usual domistic offerings. Unfortunately it seems that there does not seem to be enough demand for them, thus leading to many a skunked beer being served. This happens at least a third of the time you order these beers. The same thing holds for their take out cooler. At least half the beers bear expired "sell by" dates but are still offered for sale.
The real problem with Stevenson's though is the attitude of the grill master/owner. While he can surely cook (no debate there), he seems to constantly be in a foul mood. If he is not glaring across the bar at you then he is muttering those same comments to your burger as he prepares it. Woe be it to those who happen to come in when it is busy (i.e., when there are more than eight people in the place). Then you are on-line for actual anger at the audacity of ordering food or trying to entertain yourself while trying to wait (& NEVER EVER TRY TO TOUCH THE TV, THIS WILL RESULT IN NO SERVICE AND AN END TO YOUR BEING WELCOMED BACK).
If you are the type of individual who appreciates, or can at least shrug off, the lack of civility then the food is decent enough (the cost of everything is minimal) to warrant a visit. If you are not that hearty though, then you have been warned.... stay away!
Editorial Review by Christy Buena. Affordable classic double cheeseburgers for less than $5 and chilled beer keep locals coming back to the restaurant.
The best burger in town... and a great value. From the outside it looks like a small rundown bar out of place next to the huge skyrise apartment buildings along Lakeshore Boulevard in Euclid, but inside contains some of the best food money can buy, and hands down the best burger in the city, all for McDonald's pricing! Order a burger and fresh cut fries, and watch it get made right in front of you on vintage grills that just ooze the flavor of years of burgers. Between the amazing food and the hometown service, Stevenson's will have you coming back again and again!
world famous. The ambiance in this small bar is beyond words. Originally built in the 1920's , you feel like your back in a time warp. The grill is behind the bar for all to view, while Bruce Cerne (the owner) cooks for you. I think the well seasoned grill is the secret to his world famous burgers. His homemade chili and soups are also a treat and if you like fried bologna......you won't find any better!!!!!
