Editorial Review for Electronic Surplus Incorporated – by Charles Cassady Jr
The Specs
Since 1946 Electronic Surplus has been a one-stop shop for, well, stoppers. Gears. Resistors. Lenses, Circuits. Odd little plastic do-dads you need to complete the shunt switch between the whoozit and the watchamacallit. There are boxes and boxes of components and sub-components, some perfectly recognizable (best rechargeable battery and power-cord deals in town), others enigmatic in both form and function (ancient eight-inch disk drives). We wouldn't be surprised if there are some extra flying-saucer bits from Roswell in stock. Savvy engineering students and technophiles rummage happily among the ever-changing inventory. If you have to ask what a particular item is, then you probably shouldn't fool with it.
Price Data
You can find some real flea-market steals here, from 25-cent deals on up to big-ticket scopes and consoles. They're also in buying mood from time to time, if you've got something to offer. Service is okay, but expect the staff to favor an MIT propellerhead over a clueless newbie.
Sample Gadget
Get accessorized for the beach (especially Normandy, or the Persian Gulf) with a Military Communications Headset, manufactured by Sennheiser. It comes in a sealed military packaging with high-quality stereo headset and super cardioid boom mike and runs $79.00--Charles Cassady Jr.
