In Short
Serving one of Cleveland's largest Eastern European communities for over 50 years, this sparkling-clean, spacious bakery offers something for everyone. Knowledgeable staff happily describe each in-house-constructed item in detail, including the European-style tortes in roasted hazelnut, "seven-layer wonder," amaretto, cappuccino, pina colada and white chocolate-cassatta flavors. Rudy's is also known for its sweet and savory strudels, kolchikis, ten varieties of pierogies, cabbage rolls, "morning pastries " and customized wedding cakes.

Avoid embarrassment. If you do not want to have your party spoiled and be embarrassed what pastries you are serving, do not go to Rudy's. When ordering I asked one of the employees what pastries are included on the tray. She said: "the marzipan bars, walnut cherry bars, cheesecake, brownies, Lady locks and Kolachkis". I also asked about the pecan cups and she said, No, they do not go on the tray. After she said that, I am thinking... that's right. Every time we ordered a tray before, all those pastries she mentioned were on the tray and the pecan cups were not. The young girl NEVER mentioned anything that buying the marzipan bars is extra. I picked up the tray the day of the party and brought it out after the dinner. To my surprise, I did not notice any Marzipans. However, this was nothing compared to an unusual number of edges. I understand and expect to get some edges but not a 1/3 of the tray. Right away, I remembered the beautiful display window in the bakery and did not remember seeing any edges. I thought to myself... I know who gets them now. I called the owner and complained. I complained about the edges and not receiving the Marzipan bars. The owner said that to get the Marzipan bars, I needed to pay extra. How come nobody told me?? I would have paid extra. When I ordered the bakery under the previous ownership, I always received the Marzipan bars without paying extra. But... if something changes, I feel I need to be informed. The new owner was upset with my call and so was I for being stuck serving poor quality pastries and missing the Marzipan bars. I have to say that she right away offered to return the money. I felt that she should not because we served and ate the pastries since we were stuck not having enough of other deserts. However she insisted to return the money claiming that if a customer is not fully satisfied, she refunds the money. Oh well, to this day I have not seen anything in the mail from Rudy's Bakery.
