Yes machines break down, but just like any other gym it takes some time to get parts. Its not that the management doesn't care. As for the mens weight room, i always see someone going down there and picking up weights. Workers are constantly down there doing what they can. Its not the managements fault that the weights are scattered throughout the day because people don't know how to put them away. For the past 10 months the gym has been asking for photo i.d's or they cannot enter the facility, trust me i always forgot, now that I'm a member i don't have that problem. When it comes to the management and the workers, they seem like wonderful people. They do everything in her power to help the gym. The employees always have smiles on their faces and are very polite. Joe Mackey on the other hand was the one who bent rules and let people in for free and hurt the business. Membership prices haven't changed. Omni just has competition now. other gyms have lower prices, but the newer gyms down have nearly the same amount of stuff that omni has. Omni doesn't have drama, the members are drama, just like any place else you go. In my opinion the Omni is a wonderful place to go to. You have more than enough equipment where your never waiting for a machine. And all different types of machines to help the areas you want to target. Two thumbs up. I think the Trzcinski family should be proud of all they accomplished.
Hey JHill3003, If you are talking about the lay down rear deltoid machine than I feel sorry for you. There are a lot of other ways to hit a rear deltoid muscle besides that one machine. Do yourself a favor and pick up a book and read it every once and a while instead of working out by reading the card on the machines. You could learn something from reading about different exercises like how to adapt and overcome when a gym decides to remove equipment by supplementing another exercise. As far as the gym itself it has great equipment, but not kept in the best shape. The management is rude and condescending. If you are looking for a gym to work out at with a bunch of drama, than I would suggest going there. However, if you want to work out somewhere and not be bothered by members and employees I would suggest somewhere else.
Omni Fitness, a once great gym. Omni Fitness, a once great gym catering to families and serious athletes, that has since fallen into disrepair. Former manager Joe Mackey, a retired High School athletic director ran Omni successfully for over 25 years, building a dedicated following from serious athletes, weekend warriors, bodybuilders, triathletes and families alike. It truly was the alternative to the health club chains and "meat head" gyms on the west side. Upon Joe's retirement in 2010 Ron Trzcinski owner of Omni Fitness and The Original Mattress Factory handed over the club to his daughter Cynthia Trzcinski. If Mr.Trzcinski ran his mattress business like Omni Fitness he would be bankrupt. As of this writing (May 2012) 1/2 the treadmills and cardio equipment are offline, antiquated, or in disrepair. There are two treadmills to run on, two. The men's weight room is a hazard/disaster area, while it is understood that some patrons don't re-rack their weights, this goes beyond, with missing equipment, broken equipment, plates strewn about and never picked up for days on end. Cockroaches, spiders, ants etc regularly crawl out from floor boards in the weight room. Management is tone deaf to complaints or suggestions; and Memberships are pricey. The gym opens early 3:00 am everyday but the front desk regularly lets non-members slip in for free without checking for I.D.s creating an unsafe environment. Clocks are stopped on walls collecting dust. Men's locker room, busted urinals, and dirty. What a damn shame, to inherit something so well cared for, and run it into the ground with total disregard to customer service. The Trzcinski family should be ashamed. Very Poor.
GOOD GYM, WHO DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE WHAT THE CUSTOMER THINKS. The gym itsself is great. It has a combination of new and old school gym equipment. The problem, stems from the current owner/staff, whom takes it upon themselves to decide what stays on the gym floor and what leaves without any gym member input. Case in point, on two seperate occassions, I have had the unpleasant experience of returning to the gym to workout, only to find equipment i had used multiple times, thoughout the years of having a membership, suddenly disappear. On the second occurance, I asked why the equipment had been taken off the floor. The employee looked at me and stated that no one uses it, hence why it was taken off the floor. That same employee claims to know what the members use, but shines the seat he sits in, with his ass, watching tv and taking gym memberships, completely out of view of the gym itself. With a membership fee of just under $500.00, you would think they would be interested in customer input. Apparently not.
women watch out. ladie watch out! I was in the shower and with no warning a man came into womens locker room and started working! I was not the only person cought off guard. Management (Cindy) did not seem too upset. Another employee told me well we told people at the door1 Well fool I was in the shower!!. I dropped my membership and went to Lifeworks!
GREAT GYM! but...... It's got everything from wrestling mats, basketball courts and punching bags to racquetball courts, a swimming pool and a great big steam room. The place is laid out. The great downfall comes from the management. Joe Mackey ran that gym like it needed to be run, he is dedicated and he loves the members. He worked with the young members with their memberships, he knew your name. He would never hassle a good standing, paying member. But ever since the money partners daughter graduated college trust me it has been a far different story. I watched first hand as a former member for over 5 years this girl assume her role of dictator of the Omni and drive away member that have been there since day one. She felt entitled to the business and with absolutely no human empathy she took over daddy's business and has enraged everyone from long time members to employees that now refuse to return until she dies. so if you don't mind a rotten, stuck up daddy's girl at your gym hassling you when you come in and leave... it's a great gym.
