I normally do not reply by things I read on the internet, but I felt that I need to reply to the previous negative comments about Mary Kay Manning Dance studios. I have two daughters who take dance classes there. One daughter has taken classes for 7 years and the other for 3. My opinions and comments are based on over 7 years of experience, not just one year. The first issue to address is the need to sign up early for next year. The studio allows current students the opportunity to sign up for classes early. This is done a courtesy because the classes fill up very quickly. In addition the staff will to try to prepare a schedule that accommodates for other events like PSR, scouting, and sports. There is no pressure other than a friendly reminder that you could be closed out if you wait to long. The recital is about 50/50 mix of Performing Company (dance team) and regular students. I agree that it is long, however we must consider that each song is an average of 3 minutes long and there could be 25-30 dances. The dancers work for 1 hour a week for 10 months. After 40 hours of practice they deserve a chance to perform for their families and friends. The Performing Company does perform their dances. They are in the studio 10 hours a week for 10 months, so over 100 hours. My opinion is I owe them the respect to watch them all after all their work. Here again, this may be the only opportunity the extended family has to watch them dance. The recital is booked for 4 nights in a row to make sure everyone has the chance to perform. With that number of dancers they must be doing something right. Mary Kay and her staff have been excellent role models for my girls. They consistently demonstrate the values of hard work, generosity, compassion, and leadership. If you have a child interested in dance I would strongly recommend giving Mary Kay and her staff a chance. Thanks for the opportunity to reply Bob Strebelow

My daughter tried a MaryKay Manning dance studio one year and we were not happy with the overall experience there. We felt pressured into signing up early for the next year classes; so we did not. The recital was hours of watching the dance team and only 1 minute of my child's class. The little ones had to stay back stage the entire show. I helped out back stage and there was a little 3year old who was crying and crying for her Mom because she had a blister on her foot, they had no first aid kit and they would not let her see her mom until the very end, after the grand finale. The owner was irritable towards everyone during the show. The elderly relatives were appauld at the suggestive dance numbers performed by the dance team. We bought the recital video and when I go back and look at it now I can see that the overall quality of the dance training was not that good.
Cons: Too dance team oriented!
