This chain started humbly in 1962 as a bikini shop named Lorne's in Newport Beach, Calif. By focusing on the tastes of young, trend-conscious female consumers, the small shop evolved into a large corporation. Each store stocks so many inexpensive clothes that one could spend hours sifting through the racks. Shirts come in every style from long-sleeved blouses to tiny tees.
