Mexican food NOT.
Before and after the make over. Still not good, had high hopes for the salsa bar but had better salsa from a jar.
It would have been good if they listen and made it fresh.
Over Priced Taco Bell.
Visited on 11/5/2011 after the renovations TV show.
We had reservations for 6:00pm and couldn't get seated until 7:30pm. The menu was one page and not many choices. The so called "free" salsa bar cost $3.00 for the chips and everything in the salsa bar had a hint of dishsoap taste to it, the waitress did not seem to care. We waited 45 minutes for our food and it looks like they are still using pre cooked meat. I ordered the 3 for all and all the meat was greasy and bland. Both the meat and beans are from a can. Everything tasted the same. My wifes steak was dried out from sitting under a heat lamp and my kids chicken nuggets were hard as rocks. You can tell the wait staff is tired from answering questions about the show and seemed like they just didn't care anymore. We had to remove the dirty dishes and glasses from out table after we couldn't take the clutter anymore. Within 2 minutes of sitting down the waitress set the kids menu on fire with the candle decoration (use something to cover the flame). over all i wasn't impressed with the food.. It was over priced Taco Bell with the same flavor. The claim is "The best Mexicain food in Strongsville" I suggest they drive up to Gran Fiesta on 82 & Pearl and see how it is done! I'll give props on the decoration but lose the old blurry LCD tv's scattered everywhere. They also said that they are falling behind because of the crowds, but have 4 people in front greeting people and talking, meanwhile we have to bus our own tables and the people next to us had to get there own refills, they also left before the food arrived because of the extended wait time for the food. The couple behind us had to send there food back because it was too cold. I had a Margarita and it tasted like it was a pre mix with bottom shelf tequila.
If you are taking children be sure to give them something to do while you wait and wait and wait..
We seen the Manager sitting at the bar and not once did he get off the stool to help and see what was going on.
We prolly won't be back, I love Mexican food and have been to just about every place within 50 miles and this was the worst as far as the food goes.
This place won't mak it much longer.
Renovations and Menu A++.
Had to see the new renovations and was very impressed. The new Salsa Bar is definitely a great start with many yummy choices. Must have a pitcher of Margaritas. (Also, large pitcher is 6 glasses for $25, very fair price.)
Server was very attentive and helpful with dinner choice. Mesquite Chicken Sandwich is so flavorful. I could eat this everyday and be happy. Jalepeno Mayo was so tasty.
Friends had the always favorite Chicken Fajitas. Hasn't changed, same terrific flavor as usual. And the fall off the bone Ribs. Sweet Cactus sauce nice and thick and tangy, just how I remembered.
Better get a reservation! This place was packed on weekend visit. Band sounded good too. They were definitely having fun in the bar.
THIS IS THE WORST FOOD EVER,. MEXICANS OUGHT TO REVOLT, the queso was runny and the chips, ALL the chips were broken, do they buy these broken chips or save them? no more!! i see others reviewing 5 stars, i bet it is owners or managers, their reviews are not honest nor true, to any extent. mad cactus is a great meet market, some entertainment, BUT NOT FOOD,
Rushed Out. I am very disappointed in the service we received on New Year's eve. While the food was ok and we received it in a timely manner, I felt that we were rushed out of the restaurant by our server, Dawn. We completed our meal and asked to see a dessert menu. Without missing a beat, Dawn stated that the kitchen was closed, grabbed out plates, and walked away. No time during our meal did she say that the kitchen would be closing at a certain time and suggest we place a dessert order ahead of time. I understand that it was a holiday and the staff wants to go (I had worked in the restaurant business for 10 years) but I am still a paying customer. We were all prepared to order a dessert which is money lost on your part. I use to be a frequent customer, but the trips have become less and less as we have left disappointed, especially in the service. Food has become less than average and too expensive.
Non authentic Mex food. Don't go!. There isn't a single Mexican or Latino person working in the whole restaruant. Food was bland. I would rather go to taco bell. There salsa is runny and tastes cheap. I will never go to mad cactus again nor will I reccommend it to anyone. Oh yeah, thier large pitcher margarita is $25! To expensive in my opinion.
Great Tex-Mex food. Mad Cactus is a casual and laid back place. The service can be spotty at times, depending upon how busy they are - but this place never fails to please. I have taken friends and family here on several occasions and all have wanted to go back. The chips and salsa are a great start and there's a decent sized menu to sift through. The enchiladas and burritos are great - ask for them chipolte style - and my absolute favorite are the fish tacos!!!
Great Food. I travel miles to get to The Mad Cactus! Service is always friendly and casual, my favorite is the chicken fajitas ---- yummy --- the best in town. Great music, awesome patio and oh, so convienent to meet groups from all over. Try it you won't regret it!
NOT Recommended. This place puts tex-mex food to shame! Years ago the food was excellent, then one day they decided to get cheap! Watered down processed greasy cheese dip and so much MSG and salt in the food, you can't drink enough water the next day to quench your thirst! Their barbecue ribs are slimy fat on the bone with "spiced" ketchup. Don't embarass yourself by going there with out-of-town friends!
