Regional Italian cuisine in a musical Little Italy spot.
by Contributor at Citysearch
In Short
Get an accordion serenade tableside by owner Ricardo Salerno, who often hosts at the restaurant. Gusto! features regional Piedmontese dishes alongside the customary Italian-American lasagnas and polenta. On the menu: pappardelle con sugo di cinghiale pasta in bolognese sauce and lobster-stuffed ravioli. The bread hails from the nearby Little Italy landmark, Presti's Bakery.
Just an amazing place

Gusto! has always been a great place to go to in Little Italy, we love the staff, we love the owners and we always enjoy the food. However, this experience is worth noting, though we've never been disappointed, last night's meal warrants a review. It was incredible! I love Ossobuco but honesty I don't order it when we go out because it's not done right. I had it in Italy several years ago at a small place near the Colosseum in Rome. A family place that made it only on Wed. nights in the winter. That was pure heaven, it was one of those meals you will never forget. So, knowing the food has always been right on at Gusto!, I ordered their special of Ossobuco. Without a doubt, perfect! Not salty, the meat was tender, falling off the bone. Everything you would expect from this heafty meal in Italy, Gusto! measured it ingredient to ingredient. As usual, the owner's were warm and inviting and the attention to detail and great staff made our Valentine's dinner perfect. Thanks again guys and compliments to the Chef!

Loved everything!!! We had friends in from Portland and what a treat we all had! We were so impressed from beginning to end. Four different entrees, all incredible. Authentic Italian cuisine, amazing desserts, and a growing wine list will bring us back. From the friendliness and knowledge of the wait staff and the attention to detail was incredible! Thanks so much for a memorable evening.
Classically Italian cuisine and serene ambiance are snapshots from a Roman holiday brought to Little Italy.

The Scene
Located along picturesque Mayfield Road in the heart of Little Italy, Porcelli's features a menu of Italian classics, most served a la Romano, an echo of original owner's art-school Roman holidays. A replica statue of Michelangelo's "David," holds a permanent seat at the bar. There's a sense of adult calm and serious conversation even when the small dining room is packed with concertgoers clutching pasta forks. Candlelight flickers off the white tablecloths imparting a sense of serenity.
The Food
Classic dishes like veal scaloppini sit alongside more inventive pasta dishes. Seafood specials may include salmon filets swathed in a butter sauce flavored with pistachios or a hearty bowl of linguine peppered with generous bites of fresh fish and shellfish. The dessert recipes have been passed down from generation to generation, but the tiramisu seems to be the favorite among regulars.
