User Reviews for Labarberia University Spa

La Barberia in Little Italy offers a lot of great services. Unfortunately, Amanda, who did FANTASTIC waxing services, is no longer at La Barberia. Carly does a terrific job with cuts and color. I would highly recommend her! One thing that would be great, would be if they had itemized receipts - so you could see exactly what you're paying for...and also, I've been overcharged a few times and I caught it, doing my mental math. Ha! It doesn't seem malicious, just clueless young girls at the computer. Itemized receipts would help the customer and possibly the desk staff.

The LaBarberia University Spa is in an excellent location in the heart of Little Italy. It is perfect for a girls' day/night out including top-notch spa services and then dinner from one of the amazing restaurants in Little Italy. Katie is one of the best massotherapists I have ever had, and I consider myself an expert. She is tiny, so I was suprised when she could accommodate my request for deep pressure. Every time I get a massage from Katie I leave feeling relaxed and refreshed and the feeling lasts for days! I have also received great pedicures and manicures from other staff members at LaBarberia. One of my favorite things is the complimentary wine I am offered each time I go there. I highly reccommend LaBarberia.

Pros: Service, Massotherapy Skill, Complimentary Wine, Martini Days, Great Location

Cons: Parking

I had a very good experience at Labarberia in Little Italy! I have extremely long, thick hair which can be very tricky, but Carly got the color and the cut perfect. Parking was a little scarce - but worth the trip. I recommend this place!

I have been coming to La Barberia's in Little Italy for several years for my spring & summer pedicures. Amanda is my favorite nail person. She is very talented and artistic and gives beyond the mechanics of a good pedicure. The prices there are very competitive and the atmosphere is very relaxing. It is so wonderful getting a foot massage while looking out their upstairs window at the activities going on in the neighborhood. I have also gotten my hair cut there in the past and always walk out with a great cut for my medium-length, low maintenance, wash and go curly hair. There is one more thing I would like to add. I have always been taken on time.

Pros: Prices, atmosphere, talented people.

Cons: Not enough parking spaces.

I have long been searching for a great bikini wax, and I found it at La Barberia. Based on a friend's recommendation, I booked my appointment with Amanda. I knew I was in good hands when the receptionist referred to her as the "Wax Master." My appointment was late on a Wednesday (open til 9 on weeknights!) and I was worried about being there all night. My fears were put to rest quickly, though. Amanda soothed my nerves and had me out the door in 15 minutes with nary a hair left behind! I have never had such a quick, expertly done wax in my life. If you are looking for the best Brazilian wax in town, La Barberia is where it's at, and Amanda is your girl!

Pros: Quick, friendly service, evening appointments

A few of my girlfriends and I went to the Little Italy location for their "Manicure & Martini" night. What a deal! $25 for a mani and a top-shelf martini! The staff is super fun; like getting your nails done at your girlfriend's house. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I can't wait to go back!

Pros: great deals, great staff, great atmosphere

Cons: that I didn't discover it sooner?

I've been getting pedicures and waxes from LaBarberia for about two years, and I couldn't be happier. The prices are competitive, the staff is fun to be around and I love, love, love getting a glass of wine while I chit chat and enjoy being pampered. The other customers are fun to be around and many bring in cannolis from the fabulous nearby bakeries for the staff and customers. Setting up a service with a friend and then enjoying dinner or dessert at one of the restaurants makes for a great night out.

Pros: good value, friendly staff

Cons: street parking

During our consultation, the stylist actually took notes and wrote down on her clipboard details of my challenges, problems and the exact coloring I wanted. She even repeated it to make sure. Then she calmly explained what she recommended, why and how the process would look. I couldn't believe I've found a salon that actually LISTENS! The personal attention was incredible, and for once I'm getting educated on the right products and styling tools so my hair looks the same every morning, not just in the salon. I worl @ the University Hospital and everyone in my office has commented on my hair and I've referred all of them. The staff is friendly and helpful, not ot mention hilariously funny. Oh, and they even fed me. I will stay with this salon as long as I live in Cleveland!!!

Pros: Atmosphere, Friendliness, Amazing Pedicures!

The shoegal review is right on the money. From the moment you sit down, they are pushing haircare products on you. This is hardsell. One stylist pushed the conditioner to the point where when I refused to buy it, she tried to comb out my hair without conditioner on it---thinking the tugging would make me relent! She finally had to use the regular salon conditioner, because she couldn't quickly comb out my hair! Also beware, the prices mysteriously change when you hit the cashier.

I found the staff to be very unprofessional and pushy about buying products. One night they were all so involved with each other making fun of a man after he left. Then the stylist put a hair product on the counter and told the cashier I was going to take it before I had even agreed to buy it. I scheduled a treatment and when it started I realized it was not the correct one.The appointment was written as a combination of the treatment I wanted and one I did not. The girl said it was no problem and could switch and I would only be charged for one however the cashier charged me for both and when I asked her about it she acted like I was being a complete jerk for not wanting to pay full price for a treatment I did not schedule, want, or completely finish.

Pros: skilled massage staff, skilled pedicure staf

Cons: poor parking, rude staff
