Best Indian Food in the Greater Cleveland Area

by qualityqualityquality at Citysearch

I have lived in the Cleveland area for over 30 years, am of Indian descent, and have been to every Indian joint in Ohio more times than I care for. Cafe Tandoor is hands down the best place for Indian food in the Greater Cleveland area. If you want an all you can eat buffet with bland food that cater to the fattest people in America go to Saffron Patch or the like. Cafe Tandoor is a quality place, and everything is ordered a la carte. Order the butter chicken (hot), gobi masala (medium-hot), some onion kulcha, saffron rice, and a decent bottle of wine or simply a salty lassi, and you will not be disappointed.

Worst Indian Food

by LaaluYadav at Citysearch

We just moved to Cleveland and wanted some good indian food. We read the reviews and decided to go.

Well - It was the worst indian food we have ever had. I have eaten at many indian food places and I am from india. This had to be the worst.

We ordered Paneer Makhani - it was just paneer with tamato paste.

Aloo Zeera had no Zeera or spices

Vegeterian Shahlick was boiled veggis on rice with no flavor or taste.

We spent $50 on food and it was not worth more than $10.00

Worst Restaurant

by sreedevi_g at Citysearch

After reading all the reviews here, I chose to go to this restaurant during my visit to cleveland. Ambience was good. The food was so horrible and too expensive for such a bad quality of the food.

I ordered Malai kofta. They brought the Malai kofta straight from the freezer and added some sause to it. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This place is the best around.

My fiancee and I love this place.

I have been to other restaurants in the area and they do not compare. Don't waste your time with them - go straight here and you will be happy!

As soon as you get out of your car, you can smell the wonderful aromas of the restaurant.

He loves the salad (I've been trying to figure out how to make it at home!). Also the samosas (vegetable and meat) with the condiments are very good. I always order the Sagg Gosht - it is amazing. And of course you must get the Garlic Nan. I have never had anything bad here.

Some may consider the price a tad high, but I disagree because I always take plenty of leftovers home - at least 2 meals.

The wait staff are kind and courteous. This is a good place to bring a date, or to bring a group of friends, or even for a family dinner. I love the atmosphere as well. It just feels "warm" inside. It has a very good vibe.

The only drawback I can think of is the parking, but even that is not so bad.

One time we ordered food from Cafe Tandoor from delivermefood.co because we do sort of live far from there.. It was expensive to do this but so worth it!

Best Indian food in Cleveland

by kcj1593 at Citysearch

I love this place - as has everyone I've ever taken to it. The chicken tikka is my favorite, with the saffron (basmati) rice...fantastic! The presentation of the food is top-notch - dishes come out on a rolling cart, still sizzling from the kitchen, and the plates are heated so that your food stays warm as you serve yourself from the platters. The food is NOT bland, not at all.

Previous negative review in no way has EVER been my experience, although I am not a vegetarian. This can be a romantic restaurant, especially at night when the lights are lowered and the candles are lit. Service has always been fine, and the value is great - that chicken tikka ends up being three meals for me!

  • Pros: high quality , consistant quality, value

World Class Indian Food

by cep at Citysearch

This restaurant has won many awards over the years, so I'm surprised to see a negative review. It is the restaurant I visit most often and the restaurant my out of town guests always want to visit. By far the best Indian restaurant in Cleveland, it ranks up there with Indian restaurants I've eaten at in Chicago, New York and London. Do go, you're in for a treat!

Great NonVeg & Dessert

by abhayk at Citysearch

I am surprised that someone has written that this food is not INDIAN!!! Well, being an Indian from Bombay, I have been to so many indian restaurants around this country from NJ to CA to Boston, this has been one of the best ones I've been to. The kababs are just great and so are the chicken appetizers (shashliks), just the way my wife cooks :-) the Rogan Josh is the best I've had till date in the US although I haven't had the great fortune to visit the afghani and mughlai restaurants in NYC or the Khau galli in New Delhi. For dessert there is no second choice when you've the mango icecream with mango slices. its just plain indian taste. PS: Visit these folks if you are not counting your calorie intake.

  • Pros: The best in Cleveland
  • Cons: PARKING!!!
